Well, I'm sure if you've read any of these type of posts, you know that I'm extremely disappointed in myself. I took the NCLEX on Tuesday and FAILED. I am very upset about this considering that I studied for 5-7 hours 5 days a week for 2 months. I used the Saunders NCLEX review and also took a review course and the HESI exam. I felt very prepared and comfortable taking the NCLEX. I was very shocked when I found out that I did not pass. When studying I would read, make notes, flash cards, many online quizes, and also the quizes in the book and on the CD.
I feel very lost as to where to begin to start studying again. I have really bad test anxiety, and now I feel like I have lost all confidence in my test taking abilities. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
What books or study material do you feel helped you best prepare for the NCLEX?
Lots of great suggestions for studying here. The problem is everyone learns differently. What works for one student may not work for another student. Recommendations for certain books may make the difference for one student but may not for another student. Carefully pick and choose your materials to study from based on how it feels to you. Go to a bookstore and look at the different study guides that are available.Take an actual practice test to see where your weaknesses are and what you need to focus more on. Learning how to answer the different types of questions is key. Practicing application questions is also key. Good luck!

A misstep that most students make in preparing for the NCLEX is not focusing on their weaknesses FIRST...and not just subjects like med-surg, OB, but the NCLEX subjects like, Safety, Physiological Care and Comfort, Priority, etc...you may know the content, but may have issues in critically thinking for the NCLEX subject; ie Safety. Review the weaknesses and focus on reviewing questions based on your weaknesses; review the rationales on the questions you got right AND wrong.
Focus on your weakness, then do light review on what you already know confidently.
Good Luck!
Hello!
I know this thread was a couple years ago but I would like to know what you did differently when you took your exam again? (And if you passed)
I did a RN review course that was about $600 (I graduated LVN but supposedly the review was good for both LVNS AND RNS they said) Well they mainly told us to focus on content (they told me if i focus on content I would be able to answer).. So with all the packets they gave me I reviewed them every single day for a whole month. NCLEX exam day comes and I ended up getting the bad pop up. I was so upset I went straight to Barnes and Noble the same night to buy Saunders 5th edition and now this time around I'm just doing questions everyday instead of just focusing on content
