HI everyone... I just failed by first semester of nursing school and I'm devastated. A few people in my class have failed by such a small amount I don't even see how they can do this... our program requires 80% so 79.5% is the lowest you can get to pass. There are people in my class that have 79.48 and they have failed. Has this happened to anyone else? Can they even do this?
Hmmmm, humility is going to serve you well once you do finish nursing school. Nursing is a constantly changing field--yes even from one scholastic year to the next. It would behoove you to take some of the advice being given here, no matter how many years ago they were in your shoes. Because, like it or not, we WERE once all in your shoes and have much to offer to those willing to accept it...
Mumblemumble? Sounds like you are an instructor at my college. I am going to leave "That" table, and i am gonna show ALL what an awesome nurse i can be!!! Every single pt ive had at clinicals LOVES me! I have many thank you notes to prove it! Psych pts that refuse to speak to any staff TALK TO ME simply because i have awesome communication techniques.....awesome bedside manners.....and I DONT ACT LIKE i am waaay better because im not sick! I will never treat anyone as an "Oh well, thats your problem. And walk away from the table if you dont like it!" If you went to school with "Florence" shouldnt you be on a grannys board? Or in heaven by now? And if it was that long ago that you went to school, any nurse will tell anyone that if they had to go through it today.....they couldnt make it. Everyone of us students know that "that many years ago" was easier. Besides, your profile says 6 years experience, hmmm. Good luck with your pts
Your patients can "LOVE" you all they want. You still can't be an RN if you can't pass the classes. I sure hope you learn to take advice, instead of being defensive. It will go a long way when you're in the real world. Re-take your class and do well. Then you can talk all you want. Otherwise, you're just another student who failed a class with a laundry list of excuses of why it happened.
And sounds like you are also "unhappy" with your career choice. Yall must have done it for a payday, cause you sure didnt do it WITH YOUR HEART!!!! You and herself are "the young eaters" i can tell. Aint no excuses here, the facts are, if you are teaching nursing and taking that pay cut, more than likely its because your pts hated your every breath.

What a brazen statement. Where did you come up with this from? I have never known ANY nurse- no matter how experienced- to say "I couldn't make it if I had to do it today." And how do you figure "many years ago" it was easier? You can pass your boards with 75 questions. That's something that wasn't possible many years ago.
Honestly, in school, it doesn't matter if your patients love you. If you can't pass nursing school, you can't be a nurse. And if you approach your faculty with the attitude you are copping with experienced nurses here, I can see where some of your problems may lie.
Let me say this, i can be a very good nurse aide because i have been one. And when i finish my BSN i will still do as much aide work to help the aides that i can possibly do. And as far as excuses, i can not speak for anyone else but myself.....i was raped by a "so called friend of many years" i went to court for a divorce the month after the rape. During the semester my ex would send me pic messages of my rapist during lectures, clinicals and all hours of the day. I was very very depressed but I DID NOT walk away from nursing. I GAVE ALL I POSSIBLY COULD mentally and i had faith and hope that i would pass. Thank God i had people whom had empathy to support me, as in fellow nursing students.

Truth is you have little education and no experience and thus no perspective. With your attitude, I honestly doubt you will make it, and if you do, I bet you have a change of heart.

What on earth are you talking about? Clinical instructors are paid VERY well- more than bedside nurses and the vast majority of nursing instructors/professors I've met over the years have all continued their nursing practice in addition to teaching. Considering the hours they work, classroom professors are well paid as well.
You might want to actually research your "facts" before you present them as such.

Maybe you should research your facts. Look at the region you are in compared to us dumb hillbilly rednecks down south!!!! Huge difference in pay. EPIC FAIL, take your own advice, or better yet "when you point your finger at someone, you have 3 pointing back at ya!" " Dont point your finger at crazy people! (Girl Interrupted Quote)"

Very far from the truth! I'm still a student, but I've had many a year in the professional world, especially in staff management. I've seen many people like you with the life drama and the defensive attitude. It gets you no where.
I'm sorry you had such a rough time, but it sounds like you need to get your personal life in order before trying to tackle school. You would probably have more success that way.
I have no need to crow about my patient reviews. As a good nurse, that should be a given. You've hijacked someone else's thread and have done everything you can to be defensive & belligerent to others. So boo-hoo-poor-me all you want. No sympathy here if you're going to act like that.
