Hi everyone, I'm 21 years old and is currently doing my pre-nursing classes.
Just a little background information, I go to my local community college in hopes of getting into the Nursing program and to graduate!
First semester was great! I had received a B in anatomy and physiology I (4 credits). An A- in the required math course for pre-nursing (4 credits). A in psychology (3 credits). And lastly, English 101. I had a B all the way up to my final, but failed the final. If you failed the final, you failed the course. Because I failed the final, I'm now retaking the class, BUT I'm doing more awful than the first time. (All story short)
I tried to withdraw from the ENG 101, but missed the deadline. I tried to talk to ENG professor and she couldn't help. Therefore, I'm stuck with another F.
Now this semester I'm taking anatomy and physiology II, and so far I have a B+(4 credits). Stats -B (3credits). Lifespan B-(3credits). LIB A (1credit). Eng 101, F!
Long story short, do you think (in general) the nursing program will accept me if I take ENG 101 (for the third time) and pass! I want to take ENG 101 in the summer and just focus on English.
Side note**
I had spoken with the secretary of the nursing department, and she told me that it is all based upon GPA and your Teas score (last time I had gotten 70.7).
I know it cannot be a "F" I know certain schools would not allow you to take certain classes more than 2x. I failed Eng 101 2x. The first teacher (honestly) didn't teach at all. (I kid you not). The second Eng101 teacher graded like no other. I've been to the writing lab, and even the instructors told me my current professor grade harshly.
3.38 GPA? That's low when you think about all the candidates that will apply to nursing programs like yours that have GPAs 3.8 and higher (most comm. colleges accept on the basis of GPA only and the more credits you accumulate the less impact on the cum GPA). And believe me there are MANY out there with 3.8 and higher. Just because a minimum is 2.75 or whatever for application does not guarantee acceptance. Your best bet is to apply to a programs that looks at factors besides GPA, like essays and recommendations and volunteer service.
By the way, the writing in your posts doesn't strike me as someone who could possibly fail ENG 101. I'm dumbfounded.

My English comp was supremely hard. My mother has her Ph.D in English. I struggled with this class. I have posted this before, no one in my class had a gpa less than 4.0. There was 175 applications and only 30 were chosen. The lowest TEAS score was a 85%. I had a 96% and was on the lower end. I have been told that they mainly look at your science grades.
That was first semester final gpa. I'm not applying to the nursing program till Spring 2015 for Fall 2016. My first grades and this semester grades will bring my GPA up. Regardless, I'll still feel some type of way. I'm asking for advice, not a "knock anything"
Do you mean Spring 2016? It is Spring 2015 already... I would definitely look into going to ratemyprofessor.com to research the professors teaching the English class and see what others say before you pick a class. That might help you. I just took an English 101 course and it wasn't set up like yours. Very informal and a bulk of the grades were based on papers. If I remember correctly the final was only 10% of my grade.

This does not surprise me. I had a B all the way through the first time I took freshman English. The instructor gave me a C on the final and a C in the class. I could see absolutely no reason why this happened. I just assumed through the years that the instructor had her reasons for grading students this way.
