I always wanted to be Nurse but scared i wont make the school i am not good in math at all But love Science !! There is a 15 month LPN program in my area i am looking into but, I have been reading on here LPN's do not make much and the jobs are phasing out??? i will like to be a RN can i take the LPN training and then take more classes to become an RN? and how much longer will it take?? I am very nervous and worried about spending all that money in school if they are doing away with LPNs ???? and i have a 7 yr old boy is this the right field to go into or is he going to be neglected??? with my studies????

thanks :(

Hi, I wanted to comment on your question. No you are not too old. I started my prereqs. this summer. I just got my first Anatomy test back. It was on the first 6 chapters and I got a B on it. I was so excited. My math skills aren't the best either so I am taking an Algebra class also. By the way, I am 53 years old. I always wanted to be a nurse and decided I was going to go for it! Good luck to you.

No! 38, two kids, starting my program in August!

I agree with most of the comments I have read. I graduated with an RN at age 44, got my BSN at age 52 and my Masters in Nursing at age 54. I have never regretted a single moment...well maybe during my statistics class...but I love being a nurse and even now, I learn something new every day. Good luck to you.

I'm 37 w 4 kids go for it! We still have alot of life left to live!!!

From the statistics I have read, you are the exact right age. By the way...I am going to be 53 in 2 weeks. I have 3 science classes and 2 math classes to complete before applying for the nursing problems. If you think you are too old....I should be institutionalized :)

Hopefully the OP (original poster) who started this discussion has finished school by now, since she did ask her question 4 years ago.

I think we are never too old to learn. I beleive that if you want it bad enough, you will do well. I am 40 years old, and have 3 children as well as a supportive husband(thankfully), and I am only now waiting to see if I am accepted into the LPN program. I know there will be times when it seems my whole world is caving in because I am either reading, studying or in class. It all depends upon on how much you want it. I consider the time I will spend as a sacrifice for better things to come.
