How about a list of wierd excuses for not coming to work?
My favorite: I can't come in today, I'm having vision problems. I just don't see myself working.

I had a CNA work for me who was notorious about extensive callouts. One night at about 1am while we were both working, she called my office with really dramatic crying and said that her husband works at Perdue, and they just called, he's been injured and is on his way to the ER. We were already shortstaffed, but I had to let her leave. It just gnawed at me, and finally I called Perdue, and they had not had any injuries at all that night. I then called the ER, and noone by her husband's name was there or had been there. Busted!!!
We had a nurse who was starting to breed showdogs. When her 1st was getting close to term, her husband called to say he thought the dog was starting to labor. She announced to all present that if things started to happen w/the dog, she would have to leave. Everyone just stopped and looked @ her. She said she "meant it!"
Fortunately, the shift was almost over, so she went home on time, and called in sick the next day! I don't know if they approved her sick time or not.
A few years ago, my son worked at the same hospital I did. He started dating another one of the nurses.
Then my MIL died - his gf told her department head that HER grandmother died, because she didn't think they'd let her off otherwise.
On the day of the funeral, her sister came into work to talk to her, and was told that said nurse was gone because their grandma died!! Well, the sister had a cow, thinking no one had told her about HER grandma!!:smackingf :rotfl: Whoops! Busted!
Once (before I was a nurse), I had to call my employer b/c my car would not start. I asked them to come pick me up. Guess what. I was a waitress. It was Friday noc and the place was going to be packed. They picked me up b/c they needed me there. Has anyone ever tried going to pick up a co-worker who couldn't come in d/t "unreliable transportation". It just might work. Just a thought.

I've been off work for a week with chickenpox... which only seems funny because it's the second time I've had it.
I've seen several co-workers walk off the job because they didn't get the run they wanted. :trout:
