I think I saw the anwer to this ? somewhere but not can't find it.

How much are the Excelsior practice exams? I looked on excelsior but they don't list a price before you register for them.

ouch...i had to take gerontology (it was a witch!!!) and lifespan, through excelsior though...can't give you any advice about the program you're going through...all this time i thought the question was about the ec practice tests??? oh, my...i'm slow.:bluecry1: or am i?

They are the EC practice test. I have 18 general/pre/co recs I have to complete and the test are administered through ec/clep/and dantes. The ones that are are nursing/science related are tested with EC(7 of them total). So though im not a EC student I still have to register with EC for these test just like EC students.

oh, ok...i didn't know.

gerontology like i said was hard, had 2 books and no workbook. a lot of info to remember, a lot of numbers showed up on my test, like "what percentage of the population_____" don't think anybody could retain that kind of info...oh, it was bad! i really thought i failed it and was praying hard while waiting for the results.

lifespan was much better. the book i had came with a workbook, so all i did was work the workbook and pretty much the info i needed was all there. the questions were very specific, so you really needed to know the material, you just couldn't guess or try to pick the most appealing answer, it didn't work that way...

i had to take ethics also. make sure you know all the theories, most questions are from there...oh, yeah, ec has a course guide. that's what i used. it's good. it tells you what to read out of those 3 books, gives you exercises to do...you should be fine if you go by that guide.

well, good luck to you...:balloons:

I took gerontology, too. I hate social "science." Boring, and utterly subjective.

The practice tests are well worth the money, Tracy.

My one suggestion would be, rather than "testing out" of statistics, that you enroll in an actual classroom course for that. I couldn't possibly do a math on-line. I don't "get it" the way I do the other stuff and I would absolutely need a teacher to explain things.

Thanks Suesquatch I will take that into consideration as I to don't have a knack for math. The "normal" is ok but all the algebra crap.....please when will I ever use that. Half the time the answer looks like a problem......someone was way to bored along time ago and just started making stuff up IMO.......lol

X+2(5xM)(5-3)

____________ ( I made this up....lol) but its all foriegn to me.

2x

Where do they come up with this..........

i have taken algebra and half of stats... i have also taken the clep for algebra and failed by several points this is after taking algebra 4 times. i finally passed algebra in the classroom after 5 times of taking it. stats is just a nightmare and kuddooos to anyone who can pass it in a distance learning environment. that is definitely a classroom class for me. i will be re-taking it during the summer. i will say this the clep for algebra is pretty straight forward but algebra is very hard anyway. my advise is take stats and algebra in a classroom during a long semester.

Thanks guys for all the info on the practice exams, i didn't really think of taking one to know where you stand before studying and one right before testing. I will be purchasing my practice exams ASAP. Taking my first test in January guys!!!!!!!

Good luck! Keep us informed.

i know its a nightmare thing is is that i'd have to take an entrance exam and then i would need like 2 other math classes before i could take the one i need for pre rec. i'm gonna use my sons pre algebra book and then get and pre/algebra for dummies and then try to learn that way. i don't have the time to take the pre recs and co recs in a class room it would take me 2-3 yrs just for those classes. as it is i have to have a yr of foriegn laguage that i have to take at local cc.
