Excelsior Grads - Where are they now?

Published

EC grads,

Post your year of graduation and your specialty/specialties. I'll go first:

I've been a Level II/III Neonatal ICU nurse since graduation in January '06.

Update 5/2018: I've worked for a large NICU since 2009 in bedside and education roles, and I've been a clinical instructor. I finished EC's MS program in nursing education a couple of years ago. I was recently accepted to the Ph.D. program at a state university.

Specializes in LTC.

did you find it harder, how long did it take you and did you do the workshop before you did your clinical portion, sorry for so many questions but I have so many and I want to do this so bad I am just scared I guess. thanks for the response

Tammy, go browse in the forum. A lot of what you're asking is in there.

I'm now in informatics and loving it.

I'm so glad to see so many EC/RC success stories. I passed the CPNE in 3/94 and got my ADN in 5/04 (back when it was called Regents College) and RN in 7/04. Since then I graduated with my BSN via ISU's distance ed program and will graduate from USI's distance ed MSN/FNP program next May. I'm slated to start USI's DNP program next Fall. I think I might be one of the first in the US to do ADN/BSN/MSN/DNP all through distance ed.

Currently I own a vocational educational college that I started back in 1995, and am the CEO of a nurse registry I started back in 2000. I also serve in the California State Military Reserve as a captain in the nursing corps and as adjunct facult for public health nursing.

Go EC!

I am shocked and very dissapointed by this decision by the Ga. BON. There will be a legislative hearing on this new bill and EC will be there to defend their curriculum to the board on 9-18-08 in Macon, GA at 1pm.

Does anyone know what they decided?

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Did you get your ADN in 94, not 04? I was wondering why there was a a 10-year gap between your CPNE and graduation. ;) It's early, my coffee hasn't kicked in yet ...

I haven't heard anything about the latest GA meeting, which I believe involved the board's education committee. I'm hoping they allow current students/recent grads to finish and endorse in, at the very least.

My bad. It was 94. That would be a lot of study time for the NCLEX:D

very inspiring.

Graduated in 2001. Was an LVN since 1975. Worked med/ surg. My favorite was ortho/neuro. Worked PACU in surgical center, endocscopy, and just about every dept known to man. I now work as a school nurse, and the only RN for the district. I do alot of teaching to students, teachers, parents. I love having my summers and holidays off (with full pay).

Excelsior was great for me. I think it is a fabulous program. i would recommend it to anyone.

]Hi everyone!

Although it "seems" that there has been no further mention of the situation here in Virginia created by the VA BON's new legislation, don't think there aren't things happening behind the scenes. Copy%20of%20wink.gif In order to preserve the efforts I will not openly discuss the details (but you can PM me if you'd like). What I need now is additional info. I am trying to locate names of RN grads currently employed in Virginia hospitals, and other medical facilities. I need to know names of SPECIFIC HOSPITALS, ETC. that are CURRENTLY EMPLOYING EXCELSIOR COLLEGE GRADS. it is IMPERATIVE that I get this information ASAP. If you know anyone or any facility that fits this description, could you please PM me so we can discuss it further. ANY HELP will be greatly appreciated!

]MANY THANKS!!

]-Nikki

Nikki,

I am not in VA, but I would like to thank you for fighting the good fight for Excelsior grads everywhere! Each state matters.
