EC grads,
Post your year of graduation and your specialty/specialties. I'll go first:
I've been a Level II/III Neonatal ICU nurse since graduation in January '06.
Update 5/2018: I've worked for a large NICU since 2009 in bedside and education roles, and I've been a clinical instructor. I finished EC's MS program in nursing education a couple of years ago. I was recently accepted to the Ph.D. program at a state university.
Congrats to you @medicfirern! I just signed up for ADN RN. What was your main study resources?
I'm old school in that I believe in textbooks. lol. That was my resource for the exams- I used the content guide from EC, studied using the recommended textbooks. I also used EC's practice exams. That's it :)
Started as CNA, had 1 year experience , LPN almost 6 years then graduated Dec. 2015 from Excelsior ADN, currently enrolled @ Chamberlain BSN program and I've been working on a oncology unit for 2 months and I love it.

I think networking is more important to us- if you're working somewhere that will hire you on as an RN, then you're set. Otherwise, it may be more challenging just because you don't have the time on a unit to get recommendations from current staff. Most places, hospitals are so big that they screen applicants by current employees. If you don't know somebody, you don't even get interviewed. I was never once asked about my schooling in an interview. I haven't been asked by any of my co-workers either (except for a paramedic who works in our ER who wanted to know if I did a full RN program or a bridge program). I don't think it's as big of a deal as people make it out to be, especially not anymore. I think the thing that hinders most non-traditional grads in the job search is lack of networking.

No one on a job interview has ever questioned my "origins" as an EC graduate. I already worked as a tech in my first ED, so they knew me. When I applied for a PRN position at a local Level 2 trauma center, they were more interested in my experience + CEN certification and I was hired on the spot. I knew no one at that ED, so I couldn't have networked my way in at all.
I have never not been offered a job for which I applied. Pretty good track record for an EC grad!

I have an update to this posting. The Lord allowed me to graduate Dec 2018 from UTA.
