What does "What does this mean" mean? :wink2:

Most online RN programs are degree completion programs for RNs. There are very few that accept LPNs. Thomas Edison State College has a similar program but you must live or work in NJ.

I just calculated the approx. costs for me and it came out to $7225. I don't have any college credits to apply to it so i would have to take all general courses. Does that sound about right? I think it's a small price to pay to stay in your fuzzy slippers and listen to AOL radio.

I like EC thus far. I am working on my last subject NC 6. I like studying when I am able to and testing when I am ready. I had all of my generals completed at my local CC though--but it can be done!!! Join some of the yahoo groups for great support and free info. Good luck in whatever you decide! I have a 3 year old and soon to be teen--so not be required to attend classes during the day to be with my kids and not interrupt my night part time work schedule was my deciding factor for choosing EC.

So, to take the actual test, you have to go to a Sylvan Learning Center? Is there any online test?

hey J Lynn,

prometric actually administers the tests, many are located inside sylvan learning centers. web site to look up your locations are www.2test.com. here's the link for your state, wanted to make sure it worked! https://www.2test.com/tcl/Centers.jsp?pts=1090263492538

If you live closer to another state, look up their test centers.:)

Thanks M. There is a testing site about 1 hr away. I know exactly how to get there too.

hey everyone, I am new to this forum. my name is Terri, and an Excelsior student preparing to take the CPNE in october 2004!! just wanted to introduce myself and say hello!!

Thomas Edison State College, which is similar to Excelsior also has a RN/BSN program. In their literature they state they only accept RNS who live or work in NJ into their BSN program. This does not apply to their other degrees only the BSN.

This used to be true, but not any more --- the RN to BSN program is now open to all RNs nation-wide.

Good luck...you do need to be aware that your RN may not transfer to other states though. Illinois does not accept RN's that have not attended a school where clinicals were taught along with theory. This is from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation website.
