excelsior college - getting a job

Published

well, i'm happy to report the following results: 3 applications, 2 job interviews, 2 job offers. the other place i applied just called me for an interview, but i've already accepted one of the first job offers.

this job is 5 minutes from my house, i can work all the overtime i want, and because of my background they also offered me an administrative management position (which i declined, since i wanted experience with hands on nursing).

i'm deleriously happy that i discovered excelsior college!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go ec!!

was it worth it? heck yes!

Congratulations traumahawk! I'm so glad you had such a satisfying experience with Excelsior! :)

Congrats Trauma!

on the issue of commuting, i'm planning on riding my bicycle instead of driving if it's possible. gotta sneak in that exercise every chance you get! :). you can eat salad bar at work for $2.00 (i'm part rabbit). what more could anyone ask? i couldn't have invented a better job.

starting next tues - just peed in the bottle (no question about passing that test).

thanks everyone! it's wonderful to be working as an rn. now for that mba! (starting in january).

it is rumored that there are schools other than the University of Florida (go Gators!) that have mba programs. i don't believe that's true, but if it is, it's because they copied my beloved alma mater :). i can't wait to be enrolled at UF for my master's. :).

life is good, and i owe a lot to excelsior college. otherwise, i wouldn't be in health care.

Congrats on the job!! ;)

I would love to be able to cycle to work....but ice and snow and going up and down the sides of mountains....is just a little bit :uhoh3: !!

Hi Traumahawk! Congratulations!!!:balloons:

I am one of those people who are very comfortable in online education. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and when summer is here you just want to stay indoor as much as possible. I am an LPN looking for an LPN to RN bridge school and only Online Education is acceptable for me right now due to my schedule (family & work sched). I have a lot of questions re EC or have you heard about RueEd.com as well? I think they are kind of sub-contractor for EC. But anyway can you walk me through how good is EC, how did you start your ADN or BSN prog? I'm interested in getting my ADN/RN then go to probably BSN or straight to MSN in the future. Thank you and hope to hear from you, and again CONGRATULATIONS !!!

the thing to do is go to your local community college and do your prereqs there (that's my advice... it's cheaper). usually they offer online courses. then all you'll need is nc1-7 with excelsior plus the cpne. i'd get with ec admissions and find out what classes you'll need to be sure. you can talk with an academic advisor.

read the threads here and you'll find a wealth of info on ec. read a few hours and you'll know most of what you need to know. i wouldn't use rue, i'd go directly through ec. it's a long path, but very doable. best wishes.

it's very nice to be making $23 an hour, with all the overtime i want, plus quite a bit of flexibility :).

Rue doesn't subcontract with Excelsior. They sell study guides only. I spent the money on College Network study guides & I wouldn't recommend going that route to anyone. Buy the books Excelsior recommends, it's their tests you are taking.

Congratulations Traumahawk. I am thinking of going to Excelsior so I can work part time. I am so glad it was a success for you!
