Ok, just got an update from a friend of mine who has been in contact with the CABRN. They have confirmed that Excelsior graduates who graduated after the cut off date can not only NOT apply for initial licensure, nor can they even apply for endorsement. They are flat out denying everybody because of the lack of clinical experience concurrent with theory. Even if you have worked as a RN in another state with sufficient experience, they wont even look at the application. But they will surely take your money just to deny you. For those of you who are lucky enough to live in a state that accepts the education, count your blessings as you are truely blessed to have Excelsior as an option. Unfortunately not all of us are lucky. Good Luck to all!
Hi all, as I am reading around this thread I cant help but to wonder if I was reading the right information on the CA BRN website, I thought they would accept an EC grad provided they have the right amount experience to meet the "standarrs" of the CA brn.... and now from what I am reading, it seems like its their call. What if you were an EC grad with the ADN and then went on to get a bsn through a "traditonal" or "accepted" school, would you have a probelm then with the CA brn?
I don't know! I am still holding my breath that they will let me endorse into Calfiornia once I complete my BSN. I switched from EC to WGU to finish my BSN just for this reason
Any updates....waiting with baited breath as I'm contemplating this path, EC/adn then wgu or unitech for bsn. I still need to work on my prereqs....
Yep this is true! I am VERY anger about this! California BRN is just awful. I contacted them and asked what additional clinical could I do to satisfy them. Keep in mind that I am currently employed and working in acute care as an RN. I was told to complete an approved ADN program. Wow! I can't believe this!
That's California for you. Shameful.

Please do keep us posted. I am often tempted to apply for endorsement, just to see what happens. I have my BSN, and I'm getting closer to my MSN. Did they give you a list of approved BSN programs?
