Everest College Ontario RN program

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

@ Jmira

Oh so it isn't a mandatory Mon-Fri schedule? Because I think I read somewhere that its mon-fri from 8-5p... I want to go to everest But I need to work while going to school...if it isn't a mon-fri frm 8-5 then maybe I can do both school & work... (:

No they just tell you to keep all of those days open because it is a full time program. But in reality its a few days a week, and they do try to work with your schedule

@Jmira Ohhh ok sounds good! How is the clinical schedule? And since ur going there now....how is the staff and administrators? Cus I went to a private school for LvN and they cared at first but then they just wanted ur money and lied to students too!

Thanks for the info! (: greatly appreciated!

has anyone who tested in September heard back for an interview? I try not to think about it cuz I know they said it would be awhile but I'm getting so anxious

I still have not heard a thing. I passed high in all but math. Let me know if you hear anything please :)

oh... and i need sciences... so I didn't count those

So a little update for those of you who have been following the thread from its begining. I applied last month for the nursing program at my local community college and today I got my acceptance letter and I will be starting the program in Jan of 2012. Life truley works in mysterious ways, it closed the door on me for Everest but opened the door for me at the local community level. Now I'll finish with an associates in science registered nurse without the huge debt from Everest :D well good luck to everyone still applying.

Congrats! Looks like everythings worked out for you! Its great to read back from the beginning of this thread and see how much things have progressed for all of us soon to be RNs :D

Sorry for the late response. The clinical schedule will vary by what term you're in. Fundamentals is an 8 hour day once a week. You will also have a full day skills lab. For med-surg its a 10 hour day once a week but as you get into the more advanced classes it becomes more days.

The nursing staff and administrators for RN are in their own little world. They can be very strict, oh boy! They will definietly push you, but they are also very supportive

@Jmira thanks for all the information! (: good luck on your journey...

I'll be going to the feb info sessions... (:

You need to go to the informational meetings to be scheduled an appointment to take the entrance HESI exam. The program is full time. The classes would start in july for a february orientation. It is worth it if you still need to take your science prereqs as they are built within the program. Also if you do not have time to sit on a waitlist, this progam could get you in faster if you pass the HESI and interview well. You need to remember you are still competing with everyone else for 40 spots. If you have all your prereqs done and are an LVN they did have another option, but I did not grab that info in the session as it did not apply to me.

Hello,

I'm new to this site and have been following a lot of you regarding Everest College in Ontario. I was looking to go to West Coast university in Ontario, I had the interview, pass the HESI test and did my financial packet and the FASA and federal loans and I still would of had to pay 83k and need a co-signer which I could get one. So I saw all these post about Everest and I'm thinking this is my best route to go. My question is.....If I already took the HESI test would I have to take it again with Everest College or can I just show them my print-out? Also I put in a call the Everest last week and gave the lady all my info AND I even went on-line and filled out all the info. They have yet to call me back. How long did it take you guys to get in touch with someone over there to get things rolling? From what I have read it looks like in February is when they will start having people take the test and start the process to try and get into the July 2012 RN program. Is that correct?? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you and I look forward in getting to know everyone :yeah:

in california, the [color=#308caa]top 10 colleges with the highest three-year default rates were all for-profits. the list includes three campuses of everest college - owned by one of the nation's largest proprietary school companies, santa ana-based corinthian colleges, inc.

nearly half of borrowers at everest's los angeles campus defaulted within three years. at everest's san bernardino campus, 46 percent defaulted, and 43 percent defaulted at the hayward campus.

be careful out there. my friend who we advised a few years ago to not take the easier convenience route of these for-profit is now looking at a debt exceeding $97,000 and some hospitals not looking at degrees from these places (her other friends were told from hr after some research and personal calls) about their rejection notices. one of her friends has over $112,000 in student debt so easily obtained one way or another from these financial aids, but not from this institution in particular. my friend would not do this again, but stuck now.

true, it's even tough for those with a bsn degree obtained from other well known colleges (csu and uc system) are still looking for their first jobs as a new grad, it would be better to go after the csu or uc campuses. yes, it's harder to get into, but you would be doing yourself, your family, your pocketbook and your credit rating, a big favor in the end. there's an saying, if it was meant to be, it was meant to be, if not, then, it was not meant to be (in this case, referring to getting accepted in the csu or uc courses).
