Everest College Ontario RN program

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi Amber Alert, I'm assuming your name is Amber? lol Congrats on passing the test as well! I'm super excited and keeping my hopes high for passing the rest and starting in January. Do you have experience in the medical field?

I do have experience in medical. I was an EMT and 911 dispatcher. I worked in activities when I was young in a nursing home.

I passed but have not received a call for the interview. Really hoping this works out. Have you heard from the college... yes my name is amber... nick name I picked up dispatching :)

Anyone scheduled for interviews that tested the last few months?

Hi I've been trying to get info from this school! But they want you to go to the meetings in February 2012 and it's kinda far from my house to go to the school and get info. So I decided to ask on here if anyone had any info on the school! & don't want to wait to get info till next year...I like to plan ahead! (:

Like cost? Is it only full time and/or part time? How are the teachers? Is it worth it or better off at a CC? When do classes start? And I have my LVN does that count towards anything? And after you are done with everest can u transfer credits to try to get a BSN!?

Any information is Greatly Appreciated!! (:

And I know some of the earlier post have some info regarding my questions but just wanted to see if for example the cost had changed...

Thanks! (:

You need to go to the informational meetings to be scheduled an appointment to take the entrance HESI exam. The program is full time. The classes would start in july for a february orientation. It is worth it if you still need to take your science prereqs as they are built within the program. Also if you do not have time to sit on a waitlist, this progam could get you in faster if you pass the HESI and interview well. You need to remember you are still competing with everyone else for 40 spots. If you have all your prereqs done and are an LVN they did have another option, but I did not grab that info in the session as it did not apply to me.

has anyone who tested in September heard back for an interview? I try not to think about it cuz I know they said it would be awhile but I'm getting so anxious

@sweeperfc

Thanks or replying! And do u know if it's still cost 50K??

Yes, but it is much less if you have transferable classes. Earlier on the message board there is a posting of the classes. I would suggest taking two or more at a community college during spring and summer semesters. That's what I did, I took sociology and psychology while waiting through the process.

Thanks for answering!! (:

One more question...are their courses transferable like if u want to get ur bachelors?? Because I know some schools have courses that aren't transferable....

Just depends on what school you want to transfer to. I know I want to eventually go to Western Govenors University. They are a not for profit school, and have a very low cost program. I checked with them and they accept everest's credits. There are past students who have transfered to different schools, but every individual case is different.

Thanks! For the info!

Now if I could just decide what to do! Lol because I want to do part time school and work but with everest that won't be possible...well I'm debating between everest n WCU! I knw it's big $$$ at WCU but they offer part time program..confused!!

1) I know of stories of people who go to WCU and they hate it. Also their BSN went up to 160k at WCU. at everest you can do ADN for 50k and then go for BSN after totalling way less than half of their BSN program- plus the education is a lot better at Everest. The instructors really push you to work

2) Im already in my 4th term (med-surg) and there are still students working full time, but I wouldnt suggest it. It all depends on how you can manage your schedule. Right now I'm going 3 full days a week and even though its rough you would still be able to at least work part time

@ Jmira

Oh so it isn't a mandatory Mon-Fri schedule? Because I think I read somewhere that its mon-fri from 8-5p... I want to go to everest But I need to work while going to school...if it isn't a mon-fri frm 8-5 then maybe I can do both school & work... (:
