ok peeps i tested today......for the second time. here is my story. the first time around i studied alot, more like too much, when i sat down at the test i honestly dont think any of the questions were registering with me. i was completely out of it. someone asked before if you could study too much i think you can, im proof, that was in october...fast forward to april, i tested again today. here is how i studied:
first time: Prayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stopped at 75
saunders, kaplan strategies, hurst notes, every day all day, not good!
second time around: Prayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stopped at 75
kaplan q bank, hurst dvds/notes, lacharity!!!!, infection control pneumonics, exam cram maybe 3-4 hours a day, thats it!
i answered all the q bank questions, did lacharity twice, chapters 1-3 of exam cram. it also helps to read through the randon facts thread on here. there is so much good information on this site, thanks to all of you. you have to believe in yourself and want to pass. i went into the test with a headache but i was like please be gone, i also scribbled St. Joseph of Cupertino's prayer on my stomach...thats right:D. i was going to read it again once i took a break but my test stopped at 75 and the screen went blue, i was like nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, not 75 again. this cant be. i had sooo many select all that apply you guys it was crazy, i had 1 dosage, 1 exhibit, quite a few priority questions/delegation and quite a few infection control.
i just built up the nerve to try the trick and Praise God!!! i got the good pop up ive read so much about. i just hope and pray still that its accurate for me as well:lol2:.
thank you all nurses and thanks to the individuals who have helped me by answering questions that i had and helping reduce my anxiety.
let me know if i can help anyone, i really dont mind
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I was wondering, what did you think of hurst review? I really want to take the online review (I graduate from nursing school in mid may). I was planning on watching the lecture videos from hurst and learning them well, then doing corresponding questions in saunders, exam cram and lacharity to reinforce whatever content I have learned from the videos that given day.

thanks. i reviewed noted from hurst. its really just a review of the content, i think saunders provides a better overview
nice post! im going for my second chance this may hopefully. i failed my first time with 265 questions with results of near passing. any pointers? i answered all the q-bank questions the first time i took my exam with kaplan, even took kaplan classroom review. right now..im using lippincott alternate format questions, exam cram and notes i found thru allnurses..i'm really desiring Lacharity but i dont have the money for it anymore..maybe i could just go to barnes n noble or something..a little guidance or any pointers from a successful taker like you would be great! thankyou..
Hi,
I just took mine test on May 16th. and I am going to have to retake it . I studied the Hurst religiously, but I felt I didnt have awhole lot of questions that I could actually say, that I could answer from studying with the hurst. what were the other suggestions that you had I bought and exam cram book. and I am going to use it this time, what was the others that you used.
I would appreciate any help you can give me. I really dont know where to start now. it seems like the questions were out there.
please help.

hi, there is a book by linda lacharity that helps with prioritization, delegation and assignment. it is extremely helpful, i used the kaplan questions trainers, i answered all the questions for this and wrote down all the answers i missed and read back over them. i also wrote down any medications that i was unfamiliar with, i looked them up, by the time it came time for me to take the test i had pages and pages of notes to read over but it was all worth it. make sure you know your lab values and there is an infection control pneumonic on here that is great. study that too bc i had quite a few questions on infection control on my test. answer as many questions as you can, this will help out alot. im not sure how many questions i answered during the course of studying for this test but it was probably in the thousands somewhere. hope this helps and last but not least pray.
