Ever have a clinical day where every call light was a "code brown"?

Did you ever have one of those days in clinical where every call light you answer was a "code brown"? It seemed like everyone on the floor had diarrhea attacks. When we were in post-conference today, our group decided that we were going to buy brown scrubs and call ourselves the poop patrol...LOL :D (And, no...there's no c-diff outbreak)

The funny thing is that every single one of us was just helping the other nurses on the floor because our assigned patients were fine. I don't think I've ever wiped that many tushies in one shift. The good thing is that quite a few of us were able to discover some pts with skin breakdown, so it ended up being a good thing. Our instructor was certainly happy that we were jumping in and helping out.

We had a good laugh about it at post-conference, but it's not something you can mention to family or friends. They just don't see the humor in it. Ever have one of those days?

I had a c-diff patient recently. My entire 2 days last week blended into one continuous, nauseatingly stinky code brown. I got through it, but man was it rough :yuck:

I had one of those days once. I was assigned to 2 bed-bound c-diff patients and I spent the entire day going from room to room gowning, masking, wiping and assessing those tushies for skin breakdown. I went home and took a long, hot shower afterwards :)
