Evcc Winter Applicants

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Hello! I am applied for Everett community colleges winter start cohort. I just wanted to start a thread where others who are also applied can share stories/grades/if they get in! I had an A- cell B- anatomy A- physiology and am in Micro now with a B. The deadline was october 15 for winter and now I am playing the waiting game to see if I get in. Anyone else applied/heard anything back yet? I wish I could find out now if I was accepted or not!

Jarni2011, woohoo that's awesome! I was holding out hope for you! :)

Rokbe, I too am so sorry for you that you didn't make it in (this time). Keep trying though!!! I totally know how you feel, I was also super bummed when I didn't make it in on my first try. I just figured it wasn't meant to be YET, and to be honest, I've been enjoying a much needed break from school not taking any classes this Fall quarter. 3.5 is way too good of a GPA!!! Is that your overall GPA by the way? I think they consider Science GPA above all. Please try to stay positive girl, and try again for the Spring quarter!!!

Yes, if you have repeated a course you are automatically second to everyone who never repeated. It is on the nursing programs website. Supposedly they are changing it next fall to where repeats don't matter and you take the TEAS test then they look at the top scores on the TEAS and accept those people. I have a 3.4 (solid B+ in micro yay!) and my sister had a 3.2 neither of us had repeats, we both got in to the part time. If you have repeats that would explain why you didn't make it. My sis was going to do a class over but the advisor said not to because it would only increase her GPAto like 3.3ish but make her in the category 2 which is everyone with no repeats is considered before u and if u repeat 2 classes u go down to the category 3 and I believe GPA requirements go up too.

And my sister has applied 2x already, this was her third try so don't give up! If it really is your dream to be a nurse then keep trying, you'll get there :)

so i guess my chances of getting in are remote since I repeated a class, even though I have a decent gpa..

So what do people do..I applied to NSCC twice also and didnt get in

I know, it is sad that all of the nursing schools have different requirements. Where do you live? Have you considered Bellevue College or Lake Washington Technical College? Have you taken the TEAS test? I know that Bellevue first looks at TEAS scores and then in the event of a tie, they refer to GPA. Lake Washington is on a points system. You get points for previous education, work experience, GPA and your TEAS score. Seattle Central Community College admits by the order in which they receive applications. As long as you meet all of the requirements, you will get in if your application is one of the first 30 received. There is Shoreline CC too, I don't know much about their program though. Keep trying..... you will get in:)

rokbe, it does suck but I think for evcc you could spend some time studying up on the TEAS test and wait for requirements to change in fall where repeats dont matter and then just rock the test. :) I think seattle central and south seattle both look at TEAS scores and not repeats so that's worth a try and then Whatcom CC is another choice they give you extra "points" if you have a degree already so like I have an associates in general studies so my second if I didnt get in Everett was to try up there, Skagit has a wait list but I have been hearing even then they look at GPA and its tough up there too they may not look at repeats though. My plan was stats and nutrition next quarter and then apply EVERYWHERE lol so maybe you should check out any and all colleges around and see where your best chances are. For NSCC did you have to take the TEAS? Shoreline nursing program is on the points system and you need stats and nutrition but I am not sure about repeats there.

Good luck!

Ummmm ...... Did anyone else know that we were taking the TEAS test today? I wish I had known ... I was sooooooo unprepared! I hope they can't un-accept me!

Lol! You are not alone. I was totally unprepared! I have known people who have studied for the TEAS for months! To add salt to the wound, my temporary crown popped off just as I started eating breakfast this morning... ouch, all I could think about during the test was my tooth! Were you there at 8am? Where were you sitting?

I was surprised it was the TEAS test too! Totally wasn't ready for that, I'm pretty sure its just like an information only thing or it's just for comparison since we'll probably take it again. I really want to know what my scores were though! Thank goodness we are already accepted, some of the chemistry questions had me scratching my head lol

Did anyone happen to write down the ISBN numbers of the 4 textbooks we need to get? If so, can I please have them? Thank you!!

I did not write them down, but you can easily get the #s through the EvCC online bookstore textbook search. Just enter Nursing 110 and all 4 books pop up.

By the way, I mistakenly purchased two copies (duh) of Kozier's Fundamentals of Nursing book. One is the 9th edition and one is the 8th edition. I think I am going to hang on to the 9th edition, but if you want the 8th edition, you are welcome to it. I only paid like $20 for it ...

I would love the 8th edition..... consider it sold! Thank you! Where did you find your books?

Okay, sounds good. I will send you a message to your inbox with my email address. That way, if you want the book before the quarter begins, you can let me know.

Also, I have been getting my books on Amazon ... going for all the used prices.
