Hello! I am applied for Everett community colleges winter start cohort. I just wanted to start a thread where others who are also applied can share stories/grades/if they get in! I had an A- cell B- anatomy A- physiology and am in Micro now with a B. The deadline was october 15 for winter and now I am playing the waiting game to see if I get in. Anyone else applied/heard anything back yet? I wish I could find out now if I was accepted or not!
Hi there! I came accross this conversation the other day, I applied for winter quarter too, and also received the letter giving us the option to switch to the part-time program. I did not switch. Do either of you know if by getting the letter we made it past an inititial screening? I mean have other people gotten letters that they did not make it yet? Also, will the next step still be an interview? Thanks for the help. I hope you both have a great Thanksgiving!!
I have heard from some that there is an interview, and others that there is not. Based on the length of time they are taking, it would make sense that there is not going to be an interview, and that the next letter will either be 'yes' you are in, or 'no' you are not. I will just wait and keep my fingers crossed!
I believe that the interviews are for when there are a lot of applicants with similar GPA so that they can look at other factors before making the decision. Some people I know have gotten just acceptance/rejection letters in past quarters or a letter that they are an alternate for the program. I can think of only one gal last spring quarter that went in and interviewed so it might just be a case by case thing. Last quarter my friend just got a call only a week before the quarter started saying she was in! She originally was an alternate so I think that's why they just called and that it was short notice. I think this quarter we should be expecting just a yes or no letter. I have about 6-8 people in my micro class that applied to the program and none have received rejection letters yet. I think we should start hearing next week and the week after if we are in or not. My sister is on her third try this quarter for applying and hasn't received any reject or accept letter yet so I think everyone is still just waiting but as far as if the letter inviting us to switch to nights means anything I dont think so I think it was just to get the word out to everyone who turned there application in before they knew they were having the part time program, like some people in my class had switched to the part time program like 2 weeks before the letter even came to my house! I will definately keep you all posted on my status and what I hear from classmates and my sis. I will get on here the second I get my letter to let ya'll know, even if it ends up being a reject (fingers crossed we all get accepted :) Me and my sister are applied for the part time so we might get letters at different times depending on what program we picked so who knows! Happy thanksgiving guys and try not to wonder too much about our status for the program, we'll get in!
When my sister applied the last two times her rejection letters said she meets all the qualifications and to just try again basically. Wendi told her that there have just been so many applicants that they were taking the top 32 GPA's and those were the people that got into the program. My sister is a CNA and caregiver but they don't give points for working in the field. They just look at GPA. My sis has a 3.2 in her sciences and I guess people have just been having really good grades so its been super competitive. I will have a 3.4 after Micro and we really want to get in together so we switched to the part time thinking that most people who can be full time students will stay on days so maybe our chances are better but you never know. My sister is trying to improve her chances by continuing on to take classes towards a bachelor's in nursing but then Wendi said they don't even look at that so I don't know what you could do to improve your chances other than retaking classes for higher grades. We are planning to do stats and nutrition next quarter if we don't get in and then apply to all the schools around here to try and get in somewhere since this is our dream! It sucks it is so hard but a good thing too since we want our nurses to be the best. Good luck and I hope we all get in!
AAAHHHAHHAHAH!!!!! I got accepted into the program!!! I got my letter today! yay!!! It says I was accepted and I have to come in for standardized testing an orientation and a welcome reception. Then after I turn in all my immunization records, cpr stuff and my final grade turned in for Micro and I get a course code to register. Awesome! My sister hasn't received anything yet so I think mine is one of the first to go out. Good luck and keep your eyes on the mail box for the next week.

I ended up taking off work early and going in to switch to the part time. When I went to class at 5pm I asked around and the 7 folks I asked had switched to the part time program as well. One thing that will be nice is that it will split the pools up and give everyone a better chance to get in since they are taking more people this quarter. My sister switched to the part time as well and when we went in at 2:40-ish the basket for part time apps was pretty full. It will be nice for me to be able to keep my current job for bills and everything but I am still nervous over if I made the right choice! I am anxious to find out now! Good luck on everything and I hope you get in :)
