Anybody have any input on interventions for this diagnosis? He is newly diagnosed and about to consult with an allergy specialist to hopefully find out what foods are causing the flare ups.

He is either absent or in the clinic multiple times daily with abdominal cramping. He has an anti - sposmadic med PRN but "it never helps."

The counselor and I feel there are other issues at play. The mom told counselor that her ex husband thinks she has made up illness for the student. And she offhandedly commented about him having psychosomatic issues "but this is not the case now." We have told her that we need an official diagnosis from a physician so we can maybe do a 504.

Right now we are in that hamster wheel. Seems like it gets harder and harder to keep some of these kids in class.

Help!!!

You guys kill me, but yeah more information is needed before you do anything for that kiddo.

I feel so special that my post created artwork!!! AND I am wearing pink too.

I am still stuck in hamster wheel!! Still no school plan. Still absent at least 1-2 week with a 3rd day being spent coming to see me non-stop. So, actually in class maybe 2 days week.

Now, he has become a truancy issue so maybe that will push mom to get a medical plan in place.

I've seen similar situations where I dub it to be a Munchausen variant; it's always some ambiguous condition but not to the point of a definitive diagnosis by a MD. Wheel on and don't worry about it.

EXACTLY!!! This is definitely where my counselor and I are leaning at this moment. Interestingly, yesterday he was sniffing a small bottle of hand sanitizer in class. Today, he is absent. When mom e-mailed me that he was out with dizziness and nausea, I thought it was the perfect time for me to express my concerns about it.
