Published

Hi all -

I live in MA and am considering an out of state school. Was wondering if anyone had any feedback on the following:

California -

Azusa

CSU - LA, Fresno, Bakersfield, Fullerton, Sacramento, Dominguez Hills

Samuel Merritt

San Fran State

Sonoma State

UCal LA, San Fran.

U of San Diego

U of San Fran.

Maryland -

U of Maryland

New York -

U of Rochester

Virginia -

U of Virginia

Washington

Pacific Lutheran U

Seattle U

U of Washington

Any advise would be really appreciated!

Thanks,

Patty

I am currently in the ELMSN program at Samuel Merritt and so far love it. OK, love is a strong word for a program which keeps us so busy, but I do really like it. Let me know if you have specific questions.

Hello SparklyGirl,

Just curious to know, how are you liking SMC so far? How are the instructors? Etc...I'm thinking about applying. Good luck to you while you're in school.

Thanks,

Sara

feedback on WA schools:

PLU, UW, SU all are generally about the same price range and all have a beautiful campus... UW and SU are in seattle while PLU is in northern tacoma (about 35min from seattle).

It depends what specialty you are interested in - UW is #1 ranked program - however the MEPN candidates directly compete for specialty slots with MN students and therefore harder to get a specialty that might be popular and easier to become a clinical nurse leader specialty.

PLU is nice school - you do not find out your specialty as a care and outcomes manager or FNP until midway through the program. You are expected to work during the MN portion (last 17months) as an RN...

I'd say all three are great schools w/o knowing more specifics on what you are looking for and constraints that you have.

I went to U of Rochester, not as a nursing student though. Their medical center is top notch, and I found the administration to be pretty helpful, especially regarding financial aid. Campus is pretty, winters are cold but they have Wegmans in NYS.
