I just wanted to say thanks to everyone (especially Ned) for the advice in my previous posts before I took my first travel assignment here in Hawaii. I was skeptical about my first travel assignment being so far from home but I am enjoying myself immensely and am already making plans on staying here for the foreseeable future.
I have been updating my blog (which mostly contained recipes before) about my experiences in Hawaii as a traveler. Not too much content on the job itself (which I also love) for confidentiality reasons but more about living on the island. If you are interested in reading or are planning on coming to this state and need some tips feel free to contact me at any time
Aloha!

Thanks so much! I'm a photographer in my "spare time" and I'm looking forward to this assignment, my second, as it's longer and will give me more time to settle into a place and begin my blog again. It's such a lovely perk of travel nursing, and I'm sure you are experiencing that benefit to the fullest! Maybe I'll add Hawaii to my work bucket list! Can't wait to take a peek at your blog!

The blog link was removed by the moderators as not allowed in a post. But it is allowed in profiles. Click on her name, then "website". I'm not entirely sure I'm allowed to say this about someone's specific blog or not, but I've seen moderators say it generally before. Anyway, I just looked at it, lots of cool pictures to inspire wanderlust.
I've been to Maui several times going to and from Australia and New Zealand, and even worked there before I became a nurse (on a short contract just like a travel nurse!). I've bicycled around both ends of the island twice (running out of water on the dry side both times). The road to Hana and the Seven Sisters is especially scenic. Going up Haleakala was hard (I didn't see anyone else doing it), but coming down was a blast. Lots of tour companies will haul you up and let you coast down the volcano on their bicycles.
