From the Maryland BON website:

Nurses who are licensed in another state and have never held a Maryland license may apply for licensure by endorsement. Endorsement applicants must complete a Background Check before completing the on-line application.

RNs and LPNs graduating from nursing programs without a clinical component can now apply for an endorsement license in Maryland - More information

NOTE - If you DO NOT currently reside in Maryland, please send an e-mail to [email protected] with your name and current mailing address to receive the required Background Check forms prior to applying on-line. Maryland residents ONLY may use this form [COLOR=#cc0000][PDF] to complete the Background Check.

Yes, you need to have a permanent license first.

What was required to get a DC temporary license? How was the process in general?

Hi Inchii, I am planning to endorse New York license to Maryland. I did receive background check form. Do I have to go to Maryland for fingerprinting or it cane be done in new York here. Please let me know if you have any idea on this. Thank you!!

I believe you'll need to get in touch with the MBON directly for that question. I know I was able to print with MD for DE, but I had to find out what the receiving state required. DE wanted me to get prints on a card with ink because the electronic systems were not compatible. (Before anyone asks, I applied for temporary grad RN in DE to hold me over until getting permanent RN in MD.)

A bit of advice - save a copy of absolutely every single thing you send them and call them literally daily after you know they start receiving stuff. Ask them if they've received each item needed, and ask how progress is going on securing the license. This state is HORRIBLY unresponsive and you WILL get conflicting information day to day. They will "lose" things you know they've received.

I have many cuss words for these guys.
