Our company conducts our end of year reviews in March. Normally our supervisors conduct them after we review, assign bonus % and salary monetary raises. The supervisor I manage sadly is out for a few months and I did all of our end of year reviews. My team rocks and I was happy to do all 26 of them! Time to relax before we start all over next week. How was your week as a manager!?

I was expected to do annual evaluations on 65 people literally one month after I started. They were due January 4. I just turned them in this week.

Shhh! I don't need to do mine until August - just after I return from my trip back to Ireland (from Australia). Think I can delegate it to my acting manager?

That is insane. Sounds like management was intent on you rectifying someone else's lack of action.

They were director-less for 6 months prior to my arrival.
Their lack of action should not constitute your short deadline. I understand that they need to be done, but management needs to be realistic on the time frame.

Which is why I felt not an ounce of guilt or need to apologize for getting them done at the end of March instead of January 4th, when they were due.
IMO you did remarkably well getting them done in the time frame that you did. It's not as if every other responsibility competing for your attention came to a dead stop while you completed annual evaluations.

Congrats, Klone. It is incomprehensible to me that annual evaluations are optional to some no matter how short a stay a leader is in a position. In any case, the work you performed will go a long way to improve moral for the staff and other nurse leaders.
I wish I could take the credit, but I have a super awesome clinical coordinator who wrote most of them for me, I just had to make time to sit down with each employee and go over it with them.
I wish facilities would go to q2year evals.

We just started doing triannual coaching rather than monthly rounding and annual evaluations. Goal focused. More meaningful in my opinion.
