Hi everyone! I'm planning to apply in SLMC-e.rod, though I heard that they will start the hiring process this coming September.. Do you have any idea on how many exams and interviews you will undergo before they will accept you for the training? Let me share with you the requirements needed: resume, photocopy of PRC license, board rating, board rating certificate, class ranking, GWA, TOR, diploma, and 2 pcs. 2x2 pics (white background)..

Your replies would be greatly appreciated..

Godbless! :wink2:

whew, it's a good thing that i found this site huh, so it means i need to wait a year or two before they'll text me for that iq exam.. lol,

so the slmc qc is the one that makes your application going? when did you apply at qc branch?

dodoy

when did you have your final interview? do you have work experience before you applied in SLMC?

Thank you for this one dodoy! :)

Anyway, if you don't mind. Was your friend with me during the exam last Tuesday? Or did he/she take the exam earlier than Tuesday?

Well, as of now. I am still waiting for the results of my initial exam. I just hope that I did well and I hope I will qualify to the next step.

How about you? You will start next week, right? Congrats! :)

If your lab results have no significant findings, then you are good to go for the PE. Bring all the original copies of the requirements needed.

Try getting in touch with the applicants you were with so you can be updated with their status. I'm sorry but I can't tell you when was my final interview. I'd like to maintain anonymity. Yes I do have work experience, 80+ board rating as well as the GWA. I think I'm under the first category mentioned by katakamotenars. I don't have excellent scholastic awards though.

I can't remember exactly when my friend took the exam. Yes, bound to start next week. Thanks.

tips: SLQC employment process

1.IQ exam- last 5mins: answer letter C on all the remaining numbers you haven't answered. Surely, you'll past this part by not leaving any blank.

2. Clinical exam- questions are all usual nursing interventions ask in every nursing review materials. No unusual disease or highly technical questions.

3. Skills Validation- about your resume & personal questions, review about giving MEDS thru iv, id, im... that's exactly what you're going to perform, it will just vary. Review the ansap booklet. NEver forget the ff: pt safety, identify pt (let the pt state his/her name, check the bday, rm no., name of the pt on the ID band & verify it on the chart) and Handwashing.

4. Final interview- about yourself and resume. Be careful of what you're going to say, definetly they'll ask you to elaborate on what you've just said. Review your volunteer or training experiences.

Finally, dress accordingly and be confident. (as if you know what you're saying even though you're not sure).

I hope those who already for training/ NSET would not mind posing these tips, i just wanna help others to fullfil their dreams. ty

If they'll tell you that they will text you for the result in few weeks, it means less chance of passing or you're not the priority. They will normally tell you right away or they will tell you to stay if you PASSEd.

Goodluck!

I hope nurses would not experience what I have been thru. I had been turned down by many hospitals. Lets help each other to lessen the number of unemployed nurses. ty

can I just ask what folder and envelope short or long? does the slmc require us applicants to pass? sorry for the question but thank you for your reply..:)

Hi turboman

Thank you for the input. However, what really caught my attention was this.

"I hope those who already for training/ NSET would not mind posing these tips, i just wanna help others to fullfil their dreams. ty"

It's not that we don't want to help others to fulfill their dreams. It's just that giving this too-detailed info of the process may lead to the following:

- If you will be starting your training and DCA/HR finds out what you posted especially regarding the IQ exam and skills validation, that MAY lead to you being withdrawn from the program. (not confirmed but just a thought)

- Somehow, this narrows an applicant's preparation. They should be prepared about everything, anticipating anything that may come out during this whole process. Mentally and emotionally prepared.

For the rejection part, don't worry. You are not alone. MOST nurses have been rejected one way or another. May be because of appearance, grades, board rating, school where they came from, work experience..the list goes on. It's not something one has to be afraid of. It's part of the normal process of this whole job-hunting/applying system. This is especially true for the new grads, but also happens with experienced nurses. Toughening up one's mind and heart is essential. This is how it really goes.

just curious, what does external and internal training means and which of those is better?

I haven't undergone yet any of the two so I don't have any idea which is better.

Hello dodoy, thank you for answering my previous question.. btw, is it possible that an applicant did not take the exams (the iq, nursing test and personality test) but then was called already for the initial interview? My friend told me that he was scheduled for the interview but he said that he did not take the exam. he is already a paid staff nurse for 1 year in a tertiary hospital in our province- (i dont know if the exams are only suited for those who have no "prior clinical experience")

I overheard from another co-applicant's conversation that her friend was invited for the interview immediately without taking the exam. Seems like there are such cases. I don't know what's the basis of that though.
