Emory University Nursing / D-ABSN Spring 2022

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi, I'm applying for the Spring 2022 d-ABSN program for Emory. I was wondering a few things:

  • Is anyone else interested or started to apply for Spring 2022?
  • Anyone from previous cohorts:
    • How quickly did you hear back with an acceptance?
    • How are you paying for the approx. $78,000 tuition?
    • What is the school-life balance like?
    • How quickly did you get a job offer before graduation?

Thank you!

Hey guys. Hopping on the wagon.

I'm applying regular app deadline - which is tomorrow. Does anyone know how many students they will accept? And the GPA requirement? I'm falling short with the GPA and risking everything with a 2.7

Also, can anyone share their stats? Thank youuuu.

As far as I know, they didn’t say there was a GPA requirement. However, it’s safe to assume 3.0 or above as other nursing schools I’ve seen require at least a 3.0 GPA. It could be risky applying with a 2.7 but my friend was admitted to her masters program under conditions due to a lower GPA.

Hi, friends and future nurses ?
I'm currently living in Seattle proper and have found a few ABSN programs that are online, and one of them is Emory! I found this thread and thought I might try and chat with you guys on the application process, your stats (if you feel comfortable sharing them), and any other advice you have!
I am not a particularly competitive candidate for nursing school, as my overall cumulative GPA from my undergraduate degree last year is at 3.0, though my pre-requisite grades are much higher, around 3.7. I became a CNA 3 years ago in Colorado, and my license just expired, though I have thought about reinstating it in Washington to get more experience. I also contacted a local medical clinic here and am in the process of volunteering for them. I have also volunteered with the Crisis Text Line in the past.
Thanks, ya'll! Good luck with applications and nursing school! ?

Hi y’all! Thought I’d pop in and give a little update. I just got my acceptance for the Spring and I’m so excited to start! I applied May 31st and this has been the longest wait ever LOL let me know if you guys got any word.

Woah! Talk about a long wait. Did they say what took so long? Sadly, I got rejected. I think I may apply for the Summer cohort for 2022.

I’m so sorry to hear that! I believe they were figuring out clinical placements in the area you live in. An email I got back a month ago was that the clinical placement team was waiting to hear back if I have a clinical in my area to take me. Once they hear back then they’ll make a decision based off that. Best of luck!

I believe my state is pretty common for students, so I heard back fairly quickly. I'm glad you got in! I had a bit of a lower GPA, so I wasn't totally shocked. Hopefully I'll have better luck the next cycle.

Yeah I live in Georgia and just about an hour to an hour and a half away from campus! I think having a stellar personal statement can boost your chances as well. Hopefully you get in for the Summer cohort and good luck ?

I saw this thread and couldn't help but to provide what I have experienced during the program. I will be as diplomatic yet honest as possible. I don't want to disparage the school (Emory is an awesome university!). If you have the opportunity to attend an accelerated nursing program in your hometown, do it...event if it's a few months longer. It will save your sanity, trust me. Also, for those who have been told they would hear back in a specific time-frame and still haven't heard, take this as a sign. Lastly, I would take anything they verbally promise you with a grain of salt....

Good luck!

Could you explain your experience? I chose this program because I gave birth end of June and I'm a stay at home mom. Being able to do classes online and go to clinical 2-3 times a week is doable with my husband working from home.

I am also interested in hearing about your experience. There are no ABSN programs near me and I would love to avoid having to relocate if possible, mainly due to my job.

I prefer to respond on an individual basis. My intent is to inform. I don't want to persuade the masses, especially since this only my opinion of the program.

Keep in mind that they can place you anywhere within a 75 mile radius, regardless of how long the drive will take you.
