Emory Summer 2014 ABSN/MSN

U.S.A. Georgia

Hello,

The application for the Emory School of Nursing is now available. I have started my application and want to connect with anyone else who is applying to Emory.

Ha good idea gabookworm! Hopefully we'll know soon. Have most of you completed all of your pre-reqs? I heard about 200 students applied this cycle for 40 spots.

200 people!? Wow! That's 40 more than the usual from what I've heard. I think the cake baking idea is a great one, lol, along with a date with netfilx and a box of tissues. I've already warned my husband, ha. As far as us getting calls, I saw that too on the previous posts, and when I inquired about what way we would be contacted, I was advised that anyone who had all of their info in before Dec. 1st would recieve letters through the mail on or by Jan 15th. Nothing was said about phone calls. Maybe this year they were super busy with 200 of us applying. If there was that many of us that applied for the ABSN program, can you imagine how many people applied for the regular bsn program? All of those hundreds of applicants have to have all their info in by Jan 15th too.

I think the just regular second degree BSN program has to have their info in by Jan 15th. Decisions wont be out for them til March 1

Where did you hear those numbers? MORE competitive isn't the most comforting thing I've heard all day. That cake is sounding better and better.

I'm finished with pre-reqs for Emory, but still have a couple left this semester (retakes because they were too long ago) for other programs.

You guys checked your mail today? Here is a funny story. I have been pretty chill and mellow about this whole process except for the last 5 days, where I have been checking the mail like somebody's life depended on it, lol. Today I received a letter from Emory (and obviously I was thinking it was my acceptance letter) so I waited a while before I opened it, tried to read through it w/o opening it, gathered my bearings, etc. (pathetic I know, ha). I was prepared to either sit in the floor and cry or jump for joy (depending on the answer) when all of the sudden my husband grabbed it, read it, and laughed saying "You are ridiculous, this is just a letter reiterating the pre-req classes from your opus account you are responsible for completing "if" you are accepted." I just started laughing..... HCE2014, I might have to start on my cake early, lol.

I called about a month ago and talked to a woman named Carmen. She was the one that told me the 200 applied and they accept around 40. Can you see pre reqs in opus?

No, I can't, but I applied via NursingCAS, so maybe that makes a difference?

No, I didn't get a letter. Cake for everyone!!

No letter for me either! Cake!!!

Lol gabookworm! Cake for everyone sounds good, so at least a sugar rush can distract us from our fried nerves from not knowing our decisions :) I can see my pre-reqs that are due in opus, so I think they will probably be showing up shortly for applicants depending on when they applied. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that they had 200 applicants. Wow.

Is it under the to do list? Maybe I just can't see them because all of mine are done? So they said 200 people and letters, not phone calls. Ugh. This might kill me. Maybe I need tequila with my cake...

Congrats on being done with all your pre reqs for Emory Gabookworm! If your done with them then I think you won't have any under your "to do" list because there is nothing "to do" in that area. The only other area I've seen things that I had to complete was financial aid, and of course the prereqs I am retaking due to expiration. We have waited this long, so we are on the downhill stretch. I figure we have all done the work and put forth the effort, so the rest of it is in their hands. I think if it is meant to be it will be, and if not then there is another plan.....but that still doesnt mean that I won't throw a tantrum if I don't get in, ha!
