Emory Summer 2014 ABSN/MSN

Published

Hello,

The application for the Emory School of Nursing is now available. I have started my application and want to connect with anyone else who is applying to Emory.

@HCE2014 nothing paper in the mail except assorted letters about missing pre-reqs and applying for scholarships (arrived a day too late) blerg. i'm also frustrated by the seemingly disorganized communication or lack of communication

also, if anyone is interested in stats i applied with a less than stellar undergrad GPA that frankly i don't feel like posting on the internet for all of time (less than 3.0), average GRE scores, 4.0 in pre reqs but an excellent work history that includes two years of international experience (peace corps) and about 3 years of CNA experience. i hope that provides a sense of optimism for someone who didn't do so hot in undergrad but still wants to go to an awesome nursing school

I did peace corps too ramata :) and thanks for posting your stats!

No letter here yet. The scholarship reminder came to me via email about a week before the deadline. Lots of folks mentioned having received that one, so I'm surprised it came to some folks via mail instead. I applied to four schools, all top-notch programs, and none of them seems especially organized right now. I think it's a very hectic time for the admissions folks.

I have a question. I still have not heard an admission decision. I was wondering if you all had submitted the CSS profile for financial aid? When I last talked to Katie, she said that the last day it will be available is today, January 23. The fee to submit it is $25 and I would much rather wait to hear my admission decision.

Good question fjjones. I am going through the same debate. I definitely do not want to spend any more on applications and financial aid then I already have if I do not get in this year... I have heard nothing either. I do not know what to do. Not to mention in years past I applied to PA school and was burned through the wait list process. I would get wait listed and then apply for financial aid and end up not getting in. I do not want to even think about the money I wasted on this stuff. I am totally traumatized by applying to grad school and the waiting game...

I talked to to financial aid and it was suggested to just pay the $25 for the 2013-2014 CSS Profile because if it is not submitted then you would not be considered for those scholarships. We could wait on the 2014-2015 one until we knew more.

I also have some questions about financial aid. I'm 28 and have been independent from my parents for years. Getting their financial information would be like pulling teeth…just asking would be weird. Does Emory actually expect us to provide that information in order to be considered eligible for institutional need based aid?

Ramata -- I am in a similar situation. I talked to financial aid and they said that if we can't turn in the CSS Profile, we will miss out on about $3000 of need-based aid.

I too was accepted to the ABSN/MSN program (CNM/FNP). I found out via OPUS and then received a follow-up email but that was it. I had NO idea about any financial aid deadlines and do not even know what the CSS Profile is? Could someone please elaborate? I just emailed Katie Kennedy asking about due dates and if the CSS Profile is due today. Financial aid is driving me a little crazy right now. I was also accepted to Johns Hopkins and it is going to come down to where I get more aid because both schools are crazy expensive :(

JK ... just found the info about the CSS profile on the financial aid website (Financial Aid - Undergraduate Nursing - How to Apply for Prospective Students) It looks like the due dates on that page say February 1st for the CSS Profile?

Well now I have all the answers. Katie Kennedy got back to me really fast. For those of you who might be in the same boat as me and did not get an email in November about the financial aid deadlines this is what she sent me:
