The Fall 2021 application for Emory opens tomorrow so I wanted to create this thread for people to connect, share experiences with the application process, and stats (if you choose to). Good luck everyone!!
Hey guys! I’m looking to apply to Emory’s MN program but I’m just a little confused. I know this is the “replacement” for ABSN but I was wondering what degree do we exactly get once we graduate? Do we earn our BSN? Or Master’s? How can we earn a Masters in Nursing and practice without a BSN? And after graduating from the MN program would we be considered Nurses or Nurse Practitioners? I’m just very confused on what degree we earn and what we do after graduating from the MN program? Thank you & sorry, I know these are kinda stupid questions hahah!

Also interested to know. There’s not much info on this on the website

The MN means you earn a masters. It means you will earn a Masters in nursing to work as a Registered Nurse as it'll prepare you to study for the NCLEX. It's the same as a bachelors of nursing, but different titles. One is a bachelors and one is a masters. After graduating you would just be considered a nurse. If you want to be considered a nurse practioner, you would have to futher your education such as doing the MN+MSN which allows you to be registered nurse and then you would continue your education of being and NP etc. You could also do a seperate NP Program at a different school if you finished the MN. Basically the MN prepares you pass the NCLEX that is required to practice as a registered nurse. Hope that helps!
HI all!
I uploaded my personal statement to the online application, but there is still a red x there. It still gives me the option to upload. I ended up uploading it twice because I thought there was an error, but it still seems as if I didn't upload anything. Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks!
