Emory Fall 2010

Emory Nursing Students!!!!

Hey everyone,

I have applied to the NHWSoN begining Fall 2010. I submited my application packet the first week of September. I am already CrAzY with anxiety. When did you folks here that you were accepted. How soon after you applied?

I met with an advisor last month and she said I should have no problem getting in. I am an Emory employee. I have been a Nurse Tech for ten years (not all at Emory). The 3 letters of recommendation were from: my A&P teacher, another teacher of health sciences, and my boss who is MSN, RN, FNP-C.

I have always wanted to be an Emory Nurse!!!!! Hopefully my dream will come true soon!!!!

Please let me know when you applied to the program and when you got your accpt. letter........jasonwalkeratl

I'm in, too! Whew!! Talk about pressure!:yeah:

Congrats!!! That is so awesome!!! I also got in and I am super pumped!!!!!!

Congrats to all of you that were accepted. If you go back to the orginal post on this thread you will find some very helpful information as far as the next steps. Now you will have to wait to see what kind of aid you will recieve as well as information on what you will need to do before school starts. Again the SON staff is wonderful at getting things done. They are timely and sufficient. You generally do not have to call them about when things are going to post because they post them. Start preparing your mind, finances, and family situations for what is next to come. If you ever have questions I am here(but read the begining thread first). You can either post your questions online or you can email me at [email protected]. I may not get to answer them right away because of school but either myself or one of my classmates will post the answer on the thread. Hope this helps. Now Chill Out because the hard part is DONE!!!!! (for now:yeah:) BE GOOD!!!

Oh yeah!!! I forgot!! Someone on one of the threads asked about the phones. Check the begining threads that has that information. As far as plans you will just need to make sure you have something that can get wifi. The entire campus including the hospitals have wifi. Plans don't matter. The school when then provide information later on about what you need to download on your phone. Nursing Central is the main thing but wait before doing this because they will provide instruction on that piece.

OMG congratulations to all that got in!! I am so excited and happy for you guys!! I look forward to meeting you and sharing the classroom with you!! :yeah:

Anyone currently at KSU?

No but I applied there in case I can't get enough financial aid for Emory. Are you?

Hi. I got my acceptance letter into Emory's RN-MSN program on the Feb 12th. My application was completed sometime in November I believe.

So I had a question sent to my email about is Emory do-able? The answer to that question is YES!!! You will have to work and the first semester is hardest. The reason it is the hardest is because you are getting adjusted to learning in a different way. If you have a great study ethic keep it up. If you have been able to get by undergrade without putting in much effort then it is time to gear up and get a good study habbit. I think I may have mentioned this before but alot of your success has to do with getting a planner and planning your life for the 1st semester. We will talk more about that at orientation. GPAs are good but you have to come out of the thought process that they are the only thing. Some of you will get the first C in your life and that is okay. The SON is developing nurses not GPA seekers. Remember you don't know if the nurse in school got C's or A's. What you are concerned with is if they are a GOOD nurse. If you come through EMORY you will be a GOOD nurse because you learn from the best. What I can promise you is the 1st semester is the one you have to dig in your heals and after that the sun will come out. Be prepared for challenges, a new way of thinking, making lasting relationships, and fun!!!!:lol2:

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! I was going to apply for 2011 but just found out they -might- still be taking people for Fall 2010, I'm applying to the 2nd degree BSN. Does anyone know what is a competitive gpa for the 2nd degree BSN or just BSN in general is? Also, how long is the 2nd degree program, it doesn't really specify on the site. Do you have to interview for the BSN programs? Are admissions rolling?

Hello,

The requirements for the MSN, BSN, or BSN-MSN are pretty much the same. Except the MSN looks at your years of experience in the nursing field. On the subject of the GPA they look at it but they really consider the total person. I dont' know if you have taken a look at the earlier threads but there is some info there that may help. Make sure your essay really speaks about you!! I'm not sure about a rolling admission. What I can say is either you get accepted or you don't. I know they do fill the spots for people who got accepted and decided not to come. However, I think once the session begins the number in the class is the number in the class. Also I know some people in the past have gotten calls even in the summer but I'm not sure how often this happens becasue the admin office works like a machine. I hope this helps? Let me know if you have more quesitons.

Still no letter in the mail yet. I'm so glad we got to find out on Opus!
