Emory Nursing Students!!!!
Hey everyone,
I have applied to the NHWSoN begining Fall 2010. I submited my application packet the first week of September. I am already CrAzY with anxiety. When did you folks here that you were accepted. How soon after you applied?
I met with an advisor last month and she said I should have no problem getting in. I am an Emory employee. I have been a Nurse Tech for ten years (not all at Emory). The 3 letters of recommendation were from: my A&P teacher, another teacher of health sciences, and my boss who is MSN, RN, FNP-C.
I have always wanted to be an Emory Nurse!!!!! Hopefully my dream will come true soon!!!!
Please let me know when you applied to the program and when you got your accpt. letter........jasonwalkeratl
Hello,
I am a student in the ABSN/MSN, and I kept a record of all the expenses. I spent about $1350 on ATI , book, supplies, certification/titres/vaccines. There are also several expenses that came during the term so far. Online sites have the best prices for books (B&N, Amazon, ect) and be sure to check to see if online supplement is included if it is needed for the class according to the book list.

Hey guys!!!
So here's the deal!! It seems like all of a sudden things are coming at you fast. Don't worry things will be fine. Go online and see if you can get an i-touch if you cannot afford an i-phone at this time. I went to apple and was able to get a refurbished one for more than 1/2 the cost of a new one. If you have a cell phone already keep it. Then you use the i-touch for the school applications and web access. The entire campus including the Emory hospitals have wifi so you don't need to purchase an additional phone plan. The i-phone will pick it up the access without paying for it because it's a mini computer. As far as uniforms you need to have your uniform by the time you go to your first clinical in the hospital which will not be until sometime around 3rd or 4th week of September. You don't have to purchase nursing shoes. You may wear clean all white sneakers to clinicals. Clinical labs (at school) you can wear either professional attire under your lab coat or you can wear scrubs. The scrubs do not have to be the navy blue Emory scrubs that you will wear at clinical assignments in the hospital. Look online for your scope for cheaper prices. The school does require us to use Littman's but don't over do it. If you are parking on campus please remember that money amout is not included in your tuition. That fee will be posted on your student account about 3-4 weeks after school has begun. This means that you may get a refund before this post. If you do remember to hold $654 off to the side to pay for parking. When you pay for the parking it has to either be payed in cash or by check. Emory does not accept credit cards for tuition or parking payments. The ATI bundle which is a bundle of NCLEX style test aids will be around $600 as well as your tool kit which maybe around $25 or so. You will pay for these items when you come through your orientation so please have a check or cash available when you come because these are the only forms of payment they will take. I hope this helps ease the stress. Like I said before don't worry things will be fine. Everything will come into place. Remember you have Senior and ABSN students online to help you out. If you get the worries just reach out and will be there!!
BE GOOD!!!
::sigh:: I'll go to the library tomorrow to see if I have better luck there since I haven't gotten a response from the compliance "office." Other than that, I'm doing pretty well with everything. I just finished up the stuff for health services and I take my BLS class on Monday. I haven't gotten the ATI bundle yet, either. It really is a lot of money to have to dish out somewhat suddenly-- especially since I'm not working... :/

That would be so great if we didn't have to have the ATI bundle! I added everything up and it came to about $1200- plus the cost of a new phone for those who don't already have PDAs or smartphones. I honestly wasn't expecting to have to pay this much out of pocket. I really wish they would have released this information right after we got accepted so that we would have had more time to prepare. It would have been much better to be able to spread this out over 5 or so months instead of just 6 weeks or so.
