Emory Fall 2010

Emory Nursing Students!!!!

Hey everyone,

I have applied to the NHWSoN begining Fall 2010. I submited my application packet the first week of September. I am already CrAzY with anxiety. When did you folks here that you were accepted. How soon after you applied?

I met with an advisor last month and she said I should have no problem getting in. I am an Emory employee. I have been a Nurse Tech for ten years (not all at Emory). The 3 letters of recommendation were from: my A&P teacher, another teacher of health sciences, and my boss who is MSN, RN, FNP-C.

I have always wanted to be an Emory Nurse!!!!! Hopefully my dream will come true soon!!!!

Please let me know when you applied to the program and when you got your accpt. letter........jasonwalkeratl

great thanks so much for the info. that is really good to know!

Has anyone else received any more information regarding this fall about books, BLS course, shots, physical... etc?

Hi,

The SON will notify you when that information is posted. It will be closer to the end of the month (June) or sometime in July. Remember...this school is on top of their game and has performed this process many times over. You will find this (and any other) information on your black board account when it is available. On the subject of books...my advice is to wait until you come to school because many students will be selling their books and you will make out better($$) that way. Every dollar you can save helps. For now lay back relax and enjoy your summer..because pretty soon you will be on your way to being a great nurse!!!

Hello everyone!

Congratulations to all that have been accepted to Emory SON this fall, I will be joining you!

I have received my financial aid award letter, and accepted what was offered to me; now I am wondering what is the next step?

I am coming out of state, and I am looking for someone to share an appartment with, I cannot send private messages yet it seems, so please send me a message if you can help.

Also I was not planning on having a car, but is owning a car preferrable?

Thanks for letting me know.

hey!

has anyone applied for any private loans to cover the tuition?

I think i may have to apply and i am wondering about the process and how hard is it to get a private loan.

Hi nazifa

I applied and was approved for a private student loan (needed one to cover living expenses). It shouldn't be too hard although you may need a cosigner, I shopped around and found most banks offered more or less the same loans and interest rates for students. Good luck!

Has anyone else here applied for the hrsa scholarship?

Hello all! After watching the board since I applied, I finally decided to register! lol! I was really excited about being accepted and looking forward to starting until I logged on to Blackboard yesterday and figured out the preliminary cost! Now I'm feeling soooo overwhelmed again! Anybody else in my boat?

Ah yes I imagine we all are! That one software bundle that is almost $600! Yikes. I got my uniform today so I am really excited but I have tons to do!

What is the hrsa scholarship?

hey everyone!!

I definately feel very overwhelmed too!! All the little things they require cost soooo much money!! Especially that ATI bundle. Does anybody know if its mandatory to have that? Cause it sounds like those are all the books we will need for school, and in reading back the old posts it seems that some of the current students didn't get that because they bought books off of other students. If anyone has any more info about that please share. I don't think that any of us here need to spend any more money then we really need to.

btw... was it complicated at all to get the uniforms and how much did they cost if you don't mind sharing? :)

Thanks!!

I have created a group on Facebook for all of us entering the fall semester. The group is called Emory University School of Nursing BSN Fall 2010. You are welcome to join and make any changes you guys wish. I think its a good thing to have so we can all get to know each other on a more personal basis.

Thanks,

Nazifa

Oh good idea, I will go join now. As for the uniforms...i think everything together was like $190 ish. I didn't get shoes yet but I got two sets of scrubs, a stethoscope and a lab coat plus the monogramming thingy. They were very helpful and nice!
