Hey guys, just really wanted to wish you all the best for this academic year and this new journey that you're about to start! About the TEAS, please don't freak out! Last semester they had us take it during the 1st week of class. They just want to see where you're at in terms of academia. If you score badly ( and you won't) - they won't tell you that you can't come in, you're already accepted. Emory is great at helping its students, the BSN program is not your typical undergraduate program, it is very intense, more like a professional school program, so they want to make sure that they know where everybody is at pretty early in the game, so they can provide you the help that you need ( if needed) to succeed early on to the program.

I did, I have applied to schools that had the combined BSN/MSN program in the states, I applied to a few different states, I am originally from Boston, so applied to one school there, a couple of schools in NY, some in the south. Got accepted to Emory and a couple of others. Picked Emory because I definitely needed to get out of the cold weather ( it's still very cold here this time of the year lol) - Now that I am here at Emory, if I had to choose again, I would choose Emory all over again! I think the sense of community that exists in that school is just amazing! The faculty, the students, everybody is there to help and you and want you to succeed, you're definitely not alone! Clinicals are clinicals lol, 1st semester you're clinical hours are 7 am to 3 pm, you're expected to be there around 6:45 am- it is best to use this time to complement what you learn in class and labs. I thought my clinical time was really fun, again use it as an opportunity for you to learn instead of walking around just because you have to be there ( some of us really did) ... what you learn in clinical, will be very useful throughout the semester. Second semester clinicals are 12 hours, 7am to 7pm - and we get to choose between Medsurg, and maternity/peds. I think the hardest part for most of us was to learn how to think CRITICALLY! We all struggled with Fundamentals/Clinical Nursing at first; just because it definitely was not the way we were used to think about things in general. Most of our exams are NCLEX style questions, and we start very early to prep for the NCLEX! I guess that is a plus for us! Organisation is key! You will have a lot of reading, studying, exams, quiz, lab assignments, etc ... thrown at you all at once. If you're not organized, and do a little bit of everything as it comes to you, you will feel very very overwhelmed by mid semester. ( and trust me you do not want to feel like that!) So technically, if you do not procrastinate, and you do your work as you go along. You should be ok. Pharmacology was another class that we all thought was pretty challenging, just because of the amount of drugs that we had to remember, we all thought that it was impossible ... again, if you start studying your drugs, from the very 1st day of class, you should be fine. So in summary, it is a lot of work, but if you stay on top of everything, you should be fine. It is very easy to get distracted and slip, but once you get back up, and stay up, you really should be fine.

Hey William! :-) It is amazing so far! After 1 semester I feel like I know sooo much! I did apply for financial aid, scholarships and loans, here is the link for financial aid information if you'd like to take a look: Emory | School of Nursing I found out I got in in February, beginning of february, around the 6th I think. Advice let's see ... Emory has a very very intense nursing program, I am not trying to scare you but prepare you. Rest as much as you can while you have not started yet, have fun, relax, enjoy your "free" time. Hope I was able to answer your questions. Anything else, feel free.

Hello everyone! Congratulations to all that have been accepted to Emory SON this fall, I will be joining you! I have received my financial aid award letter, and accepted what was offered to me; now I am wondering what is the next step? I am coming out of state, and I am looking for someone to share an appartment with, I cannot send private messages yet it seems, so please send me a message if you can help. Also I was not planning on having a car, but is owning a car preferrable? Thanks for letting me know.

Hey! Thanks for the reply! I was undecided on whether or not I should live on campus, but it seems that living off campus might be less expensive ( from your experience?). I am from Boston, MA and I will definitely check ProMove. I know you have summers free, ( meaning no classes during the summer) what do you do during your summers? Do you work? Can you? I did some research, and found out that some hospitals do offer 10 weeks paid externships during the summer... Have you done anything like that this past summer? Thanks for letting me know.

I don't have any specific questions yet, but feel free to tell me about what you think I should know. Well, now that I think of it: Was housing offered to you? Or did you have to live off campus? How is Emory in terms of financial aid? Are they generous? Hope to hear from you soon!
