Emory Accepted Students Fall 2011

Published

Hello! I have been accepted to Emory's 2011 BSN program, and I wanted to create a new place for those that have also been accepted to keep in contact as we prepare for the fall. I am also interested in current and past students to offer any vital information that will help make this transition easier. I know this will be a very challenging program and I can only imagine everything I must do to be successful. So all advice and discussion are welcome!

As of now, I am very anxious about financial aid because it is unlikely that I will be able to submit my income tax return by March 15th. What are all my joining class thinking about now that we got the acceptance part out the way?:yelclap:

@claudia617 - I agree! I also received mine (and at least I was prepared for just two pages) but I would have liked a little more. It would also be nice to know when the admit day is in April - I've got plans to make!

@everyone who wants the study guide shoot me your emails and I will send them to you!

@gtnurse...i do not believe you can take organic (chem 2) class online...b/c it requires a lab

Hey!!!!

I was reading the thread and I noticed that you said you have a pdf version of the Mcgraw book? Can I have a copy too? I just got my letter of acceptance in the mail and I am ecstatic!!!!!

My email is [email protected]

I would totally owe you for life!

Thank you sooo much!

Hey Yall!

I am so excited that someone started the thread!

I got my so called packet today. It was so funny because my mom called me at work to tell that I received a letter from Emory and I told her if its not a big packet then I did not get in, then she opens it and reads it and after a while she reads the second page and tells me what it says and I go "omg, did I get in? Did I seriously get into Emory" It was so funny. Now I am scrambling to know about financial aid. I just need to submit my fafsa tomorrow after I give them a ring. For now I am planning to attend unless I hear from UNC-Chapel Hill ABSN. If they say yes, then sadly I will not go to Emory (in-state tuition is sooooo much cheaper 20k for 1 year vs 72k for two years) but nonetheless I am honored to have been accepted to such a marvelous program. If I go, its going to be an interesting experience for me because I have never lived outside of NC since I moved here when I was 16. If anyone is from the Atlanta area, could you give me some information about apartments areas, like what areas I should look into and avoid and the price ranges? I will be coming from a nice 6-7 hours away and the most info I can get as soon as possible, the better. I would love to have everything in order by may, before I go out of the country for 14 days (grampa is turning 100!)

@Oaktown- I seem to remember you from the Duke ABSN thread, am I right?

I am so excited y'all!!!!!

YAY Emory people!! I'm in the nursing for second degree group, any of y'all on here?

Currently taking organic chem, A&P II, Statistics and NURS 2010. Ugh. But for those of y'all worried about organic chem, I'm looooving it. HATED the first semester and managed to get a B+.

I'm at Georgia State right now, spring break next week, I'll be finishing up my financial aid stuff then. Hope I get enough money or it's back to applying to schools! Eek!

@Amisadai I sent you the study guide and the book!

Also, to all the accepted students I was looking @ scholarships and everything...anddddd from my understanding our admission application would be our scholarship application as well (as noted on the website)...BUT of course- there were 2 scholarships from Emory (woodruff and one other one) that required a separate application DUE ON JANUARY 15th! - go figure....hopefully some of you guys and gals knew about that....oh well i guess ill just apply to those scholarships next year LOL

@Amisadai - hey! Yes, I was on the Duke thread. One of my recommendations never arrived so my app wasn't considered. I'll probably still apply in July since everything else is there, but I'm starting to worry more about expense. I will actually be moving across country if I go to Emory (or Duke) and it's a big expense. But, I want a good nursing program! So lots to think about.... Congrats on your acceptance!

@ Amisadai - did you get accepted to Duke? I am still waiting to hear.

Hey Creece15

Actually the two scholarships that you referenced to are only for the BSN second degree and the Accelerated BSN (ABSN) programs. So no worries if you're just applying to the regular BSN program. Oh and if you can send me your study guide for TEAS at: [email protected] that'd be awesome! :)

How's everyone else doing?? Has the newness of being accepted into such a fab nursing program wore off yet?? I'm still all smiles!! :)

@scout- naw I didnt even make it to interview. I was heartbroken. How were interviews for you? Which school would you choose between Duke and EU?

I received a call yesterday from a graduate student at Emory congratulating me on my acceptance.

Hey Y'all!

Just out of curiosity, who's doing what program? as in BSN/2nd degree BSN, BSN/MSN segue, ABSN?

I'm a 2nd degree student :-) :)

I'm a 2nd degree student. I am so glad that someone posted that organic chemistry was way better than the first one!! I still need to figure out where I am taking it along with statistics. :/
