Emory Accepted Students Fall 2011

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello! I have been accepted to Emory's 2011 BSN program, and I wanted to create a new place for those that have also been accepted to keep in contact as we prepare for the fall. I am also interested in current and past students to offer any vital information that will help make this transition easier. I know this will be a very challenging program and I can only imagine everything I must do to be successful. So all advice and discussion are welcome!

As of now, I am very anxious about financial aid because it is unlikely that I will be able to submit my income tax return by March 15th. What are all my joining class thinking about now that we got the acceptance part out the way?:yelclap:

to lilly4emory: try any of the Georgia Perimeter College units...the campuses are sprinkled here and there...google for locations...whatever you do, apply now as they move slowly in admissions.

lilly4emory: one more thing...georgia state schools do have a rip-off charge for out of state residents, so check out schools like mercer univ in the area

Hi Everone!

@creece if you don't mind ... can I have a copy of that study guide too?? Thanks!

I live in Atlanta and I'm taking my last pre-req (Organic Chemistry) at Chattahoochee Tech.

Does this happen to be an online course? Are you having to take a lab with it? I still have to take Organic this summer. My second chemistry class I took didn't have an organic component :(

oh no...Well you still have some time to take it. The class that I am currently in is a lecture course with lab. The course is called Survey of Organic Chemistry & BioChemistry with lab. I am on a quarter system and they will be changing to semesters after the next 2 quarters coming up. I like the quarter system because you are able to complete a class within about 2.5 months. I was able to complete all my pre-reqs within a year and half. It's fast paced but doable. The first half of the class is Organic Chemistry and the last component is Bio Chem. The midterm that I will be taking tomorrow covers the Organic Chem material. I am excited to be jumping into Bio Chem right after.

So, does the Organic Chem need a lab with it?

@everyone who wants the study guide shoot me your emails and I will send them to you!

@gtnurse...i do not believe you can take organic (chem 2) class online...b/c it requires a lab

@creece15 I wondered about that. It looks like Georgia Perimeter has one listed for online this summer, but how could you do a lab online unless it didn't have one? Guess I still need to do more research on this!

Thank you everyone for the school information!

@creece15 can you please send the study guide to [email protected]?

Thank you!

Yeah I think the chem HAS to have a lab with it...

I took mine @ KSU..so you may want to check them out....if you need some teacher suggestions send me an email and I will give you some @ KSU!

This summer I have to take AP2 and Micro together...ew

I was able to find an anatomy class online with a lab, so it could be possible to find one, but I would check with Emory before actually signing up. I didn't end up taking the class but I believe someone on the other thread had checked with them about taking a Micro class online and it seemed to be possible. Though not quite sure how you would do an organic lab at home....

I did take the first chem with a lab online. (It was complicated and the program was constantly breaking so I wouldn't suggest an online chemistry.) I guess I was asking because I couldn't imagine doing an organic lab online. I am hoping my packet comes in the mail tomorrow so some of my questions will be answered! I thought it would be here by now since I am only in Gainesville.
