Emory absn 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I figured I would start a thread for the upcoming application cycle for Emory's ABSN program. I am excited to get everything in and apply, I am just waiting to take my TEAS.

When did you hear back in regards to merit scholarship? I received an email asking me to submit any offer I got from other schools so they can re-evaluate my scholarship to bump it up but I have not received any. They said i will be hearing back in regards to the exact amount by month end. This is torture.

For anyone wanting to know about merit scholarships, I got a merit scholarship, and I heard it was a good offer coming from Emory. However, the amount per semester was really low (just a few thousand) compared to how much it costs per semester to attend. I'm sure I could take out a loan if necessary, but I'm currently waiting to hear back from some public institutions I applied to. Paying $70k+ for tuition and even more to simply live in Atlanta sounds unfathomable to me right now lol. That's a lot of debt for a bachelor degree.

I heard back about my scholarship in December, and I just heard back about my full financial aid package yesterday! Didn't get much at all :( unfortunately .

Hey all!

I submitted my application back in early January and just received notice that I've been waitlisted. The waiting game continues! Has anyone else been accepted this round?

I haven't heard anything at all regarding financial aid. Is anyone in the same boat as me? I don't want to annoy them by calling but I have to make some decisions soon and they will be impacted by the amount of aid I receive.

I had applied for the Jan 15th deadline and was waitlisted as well.

Accepted at Vandy and Boston College and most likely going to Vandy for FNP. Good luck y'all! Hope once I submit my official paperwork one of you can get my spot!

This is my first post after browsing threads for a while. caz7 and LACNurse I was just waitlisted as of yesterday as well. Does anyone have any idea how big the waitlist pool usually is? Best of luck to you both!

I don't know about how big the waitlist pool is. I did call with a few question and was told that is it not a ranked list.

Interesting! Well I hope we all make it in. I'm still waiting to hear back from two other schools as well. Did they mention anything to you regarding a deposit if waitlisted?

No. As far as I know, a deposit is only required if we are officially accepted into the program. I hope we make it in also...Emory is definitely my first choice!

I don't know if this helps. I emailed them asking if there was anything I could do to help increase my chances of getting off the waitlist and enhancing my application and this is what they said:

The wait list is not ranked and if the Admission Committee determines that candidates on the wait list need to be reviewed for possible admission, the entire wait list is reviewed. If you would like you may email us supplement documents that the admission committee would see if they review your application again, but there is no guarantee that this would effect your decision. You will be contacted directly if your admission decision changes. The wait list will remain active until the first day of class. I hope this information helps and have a great day!

Thank you,

Emory SON Enrollment Team

Thank you for sharing this! I definitely want to do everything I can to help my chances! What do you plan to submit in addition to your application? Maybe some letters of recommendation?
