Hi everyone,
I thought I would get a thread started for the Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 application cycle. I am going to the information session next Friday, July 24th for the program.
Has anyone else started to get ready for this application cycle?
I received a status update last week and have been waitlisted pending my GRE retake which is Dec 5th. Has anyone else been waitlisted? If so, I am curious to know what information you received about why.. I was told that I would be reconsidered in the December applicant pool. Also, is there anyone attending the open house later this month?
Lemonsas , on my application it said that I would need to retake the GRE and when I spoke to the office about it they said that you could sill be accepted with low GRE scores you would just need to retake it before you started the program. But now when I check my account there is a green check mark next to my GRE scores and it no longer has a message that I need to retake it, so I am really not sure whats going on and I know that they are closed for Fall break so I will have to wait until tomorrow to call. And I really want to try to make it for the open house. I'm out of state though .
Wow, that's so bizarre to me, that they place such a premium on the GRE, and that they actually require one to retake it to fit within some presumably stats-driven formula. I had always gotten the impression that, in nursing, the GRE was more of a procedural measure than anything else, and that the scores were not so heavily weighted in the admissions process. Emory admissions must take a very traditional, stat-centric, non-holistic review of their applicants. Interesting.
Thanks for the reply! I received an email that was very specific regarding GRE scores and that both have to be between 50-60% (my scores are from 2011, so I have some room to improve). I didn't know what to expect when I submitted my application pending my new score, but honestly figured that I would be denied... so I am curious to know how the wait list is being compiled. This is a sentence from my status update "Your position on the wait list indicates that you are among numerous strong applicants to our program this year who have the potential to add diversity and talent to the learning community we strive to create." I assume this is a generic email sent to all waitlisted applicants but wanted to ask, so if anyone would mind sharing I would appreciate it!! I am very nervous/anxious about applying as I KNOW this is the right path for me and have fallen in love with Emory.
Im pretty sure it starts in the Summer. It actually starts the day after my graduation which is really nerve wrecking, if I am to get into the program. I wanted to know if anyone who was already in the program can talk about their experience. Will there be time to have a part-time job ? What does the class schedule look like ? Hows financial aid etc.
