Hi everyone,
I thought I would get a thread started for the Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 application cycle. I am going to the information session next Friday, July 24th for the program.
Has anyone else started to get ready for this application cycle?
Has anyone been accepted and is actually attending? I don't know if I can even consider it with this cost... What deters me from Emory's program is that you HAVE to go full time; no part-time option once you hit the Master's portion of the program. I ideally would like to work part-time while going to school so I don't graduate it hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt! Anyone else have thoughts on this?
I am interested in the answer to this as well. I have weighed the pros and cons for myself. Basically it's either get everything done now (so I can go on with my life since I feel so behind after getting a bio degree and am 26) at this high price or hopefully get in somewhere like KSU where the accelerated program costs $30,000 but then worry about applying to NP programs further down the road and getting 2-3 years experience. I go back and forth but I try to remember I will end up where I am meant to!
You don't have to do full time for the MSN portion, but it's highly recommended and encouraged, as this IS an accelerated program. At the admitted students day they did mention that after getting the BSN, some people will stop and work full time as an RN for some time and then reapply for the MSN portion. They said those students are often automatically accepted back into the program as long as they were good students while in the ABSN portion.

Yeah, they definitely threw around the whole "Look at it as an investment in your education." line several times during the open house that I went to. I was accepted about a month ago, and I've been desperately filling out scholarship applications online! I will say that they do offer some merit-based and need-based scholarships. I received a little merit-based, but I still have a LONG WAY to go. :) The benefit of this program is that you'll have a terminal degree in ~3 years. I guess you just have to weigh whether or not it's worth the "investment" to do it this way rather than the BSN program, a couple years of work experience, and then the MSN. I haven't found many MSN programs where you won't need a couple years of BSN experience. I'm not getting younger, so it's hard for me to put off the MSN for even a couple more years.
Is anyone who has been accepted still finishing up a pre req this semester? I was reading that we must have official transcripts by orientation, however my last class ends the day before orientation and I know my official grade probably won't be out for another couple weeks after that, just wondering if anyone is in a similar situation or has any insight on this
I have the same problem, my online class ends the day before orientation too! I emailed the graduate admissions counselor and explained the situation. She said she would note it in my file and I could send in an unofficial final grade until the offal transcripts were ready :)
okay thank you! I was a little worried about it, but I'll just have to do the same as you

I applied before the Dec 15th deadline but did not have all my green checkmarks until before the Jan 15th deadline. I would assume if you got a video interview that they have all they need from you for now as I don't believe they'd move forward with that part without all required materials at this point. No news is good news at this point so keep your head up! I heard something around 5pm EST so maybe that's a standard time to expect something daily? Good luck! Hopefully us waitlisters hear something soon! Anyone applying to any other programs?
