Hi guys, Triage is very busy and stressful in my hospital (like in most hospitals) I've heard that some hospitals pay from $1 to $3 x-tra for triage nurses, does anybody have any input on this, I'm trying to push for this Triage differential pay in my hospital in El Centro CA. I will appreciate your comments.

We get an extra 1$ /hr-charge nurse. Nothing extra for triage.

Not as of 18 months ago... which is wrong. The customer is always right... allegedly. The employee is to suck up the yelling, threats and rudeness.

Truly amazing......

We get charge nurse pay, we rotate the job. We also have a "charge" in triage, titled "lead triage" to avoid confusion, who also gets charge differential.

I think the bonus is that you get to sit down more. :)

You get extra pay for charge nurse?!!!?

I think we just get battle pay for working in the ED altogether!

Not to mention dumping pay that each of the inpatient units should kick in for!

:rotfl:

we do get charge nurse pay, but thats only after fighting for it. lol

LOL....MOST E.D. NURSES WOULD FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULD MAKE MORE THAN THE TRIAGE NURSE!! IF THIS GOES ON ANYWHERE, ITS NOT BEEN AT THE E.D I WORKED IN...

none in our hospital...Tampa, FL.

most of my coworkers would PAY the hospital to be in triage. there is a daily fight so we had to go to rotating.

i've never worked anywhere where they paid you a diff for triage. in memphis we needed combat pay...and it seemed like we were assigned triage only when we made someone mad. :p up here in northwest arkansas most people don't mind working in triage. i definitely don't mind it...memphis, rude people, a sometimes 8 hour wait in the winter time...here in fayetteville, mostly polite people, and waiting for 2 hours in the waiting room is "waiting all day". lol. i'm always happy to work triage here. :snowman1:
