Hello, everyone,
I was wondering what your thoughts were about sending an email follow-up/thank-you letter for an interview I had today. The managers are going to make their decision early next week, and I'd like to get my letter in before they do. However, I'm not sure how appropriate it is to email the letter.
Will I look like a lazy butt if I email it?
Thanks!

I feel emailing a Thank you is fine. They want our applications online.. Charting is computerized. The old days required hand written notes. If you can hand write one and physically get it to the hiring person, I'd do that but if not I think email is prompt. Just be professional, not too wordy.
Best of luck..

I always send a thank you letter within 24 hours. It is a good follow up.

LOL!
I agree with brookeelou - in this day and age, I think an e-mail is appropriate.

Ok, I have a similar question. I had a panel interview today with 6 floor managers...i cant even remember half of their names or what unit they came from. Should I send a thank you to HR? Or how do I go about doing this?
Was there a lead person? If not then send note to HR? It may do little good but who knows?
Side note in future, request business card from everyone in on your interview..Simply ask if they do not offer. And if they say they do not have one.. write down in your notebook , each name and at least a phone number for each one.
Yes you should carry a notebook or something of that sort to every iinterview. I use it for names, questions that pop in my head etc.
Good call...i had my notebook but never thought to ask for their business card! I was thinking of calling HR to see if they could tell me who was on the panel. Do you think thats a good idea?
I think it would be okay, if you ask just right..Saying something like you really wanted to send Thanks but did not get everyone's name and email??

Send it ASAP! An e-mail is great. It is not so much about how it gets there, but more about what it says. I sent mine right when I got home from an interview and instead of going in for another interview a couple days later the NM called me that evening to thank me for the letter and offer me the position.

No big deal. Email the thank you to either the lead person there or to HR and ask to forward this email to the rest of the interviewing team that you spoke to. Or, if you read my message before the interview, it is absolutely appropriate to ask then for emails or business cards. Good luck on the interview! :)
And people, of course I am talking about an EMAIL. We are in 21st century here. I think I didn't send anyone regular mail in the last 10 years. :)
Sorry, but the art of hand-written letter sent via the Postal service is still alive. And I find, when time allows, sending such a thing brings huge results.. People are impressed and usually quite tickled to have received an old-fashioned letter.
