Abuse only 3 months in...what should I do?
Thanks to all who posted! Re: llg I dont feel like I am in immediate danger, and I think I can hang on for a while longer until something becomes available. I have too anyway for the sake of my financial situation (its not completely imperative as I am married, but it would be difficult to live without my income at this point). Fortunately we have a locum practitioner in right now who has been WONDERFUL and really helped me see what life can be like with a reasonable practitioner! Although it has been good with the locum doc, I dread the doctors return everyday. Hopefully something will come up soon and I can high tail it out of there. My other concern is my relative lack of experience. Is 3 months experience even desirable to other employers this day and age? Thanks again for your help.

Abuse only 3 months in...what should I do?
Here is my situation: I've been working at a Peds clinic now for a few months and things are really starting to come to light. The work environment includes me, 3 other nurses, one doc and reception at a small ambulatory peds clinic. I am a new nurse (this is my first job after graduation) and new to pediatrics. I live in an area with limited job opportunities and I was more than thrilled to finally get a job even if it did not fit my original ideas. I work hard, am respectful and willing to learn and be taught. That being said, I will tell you what has been going on. The doctor I work with is often verbally abusive and downright inappropriate. On more than one occasion the doctor has yelled and verbally harrassed myself and the other staff in front of patients and other co-workers. He has on many occasions said inappropriate comments with sexual tones towards me. These instances occur almost on a daily basis. Furthermore, he is highly arrogant; so much so that I have seen patients and nurses treated terribly so he could prove a ridiculous point (or rather, make himself look like a fool). Now that I have gotten to know the other nurses and build rapport, I have learned that turnover is extremely high. There have been four other practitioners who have all left within the past 2 years and at least as many nurses. The nurse who has worked the longest there has only been on for 1.5 years and is actively looking for another job now because she cant take it any longer. My question is do I stay for the sake of my resume until 6 months or 1 year rolls around? Or do I leave and find a better work environment where myself, the people I work with and the patients are treated with respect? I appreciate any and all advice! Thanks.

Pediatric Clinic Job
Hello All, I am a new grad (Fall 2010) on the hunt for a job. I had an interview recently at a pediatric clinic. Im really excited at the prospect of working there and was wondering if there are other people who have started out in a pediatric clinic for their first job. What did you like/dislike about it? Was it a good transition into the field from school? Tips/thoughts in general? Thanks!

New BSN w/ No Experience = No JOB = Frustrated!
I just need to vent and get some good advice. I am a BSN grad from Fall 2010 and I have been on the job hunt since March after I completed my NCLEX. I recently moved to a one-hospital town with my husband (Air Force) and heard back from the hospital that they did not hire me due to my lack of experience. Im sure many of you have heard this before and have asked yourself and others, "How do I get experience if no one hires me?!!?". I have broadened my horizons, adjusted my expectations and have begun to apply for anything and everything that has RN in the job title. I'm just bummed, frustrated and unsure of how to proceed. I eventually want to go back to school for my NP but have been advised on multiple occasions that it is best to have RN experience first. I agree, but am also considering going back to school just to use this time wisely. It seems as though there are a lot of other folks in a similar situation...hopefully this job market improves soon! Thoughts, words of wisdom? Thanks in advance.

7 weeks wait to hear about a job...
No, just a regular old job. Unfortunately there has been very little communication from the HR department. Im going in tomorrow to talk with HR and hopefully get the straight scoop.

7 weeks wait to hear about a job...
Im on my seventh week of waiting to hear about I job I applied for in early April. It was my first nursing interview after having graduated last fall, and my first major job interview. I have been in to see HR once after the interview to check on the job status and the recruiter informed me I would be hearing by the third week of May. This is driving me a bit CRAZY! Has this been the case for anybody else out there? The recruiter told me they were conducting interviews for 6 weeks and using the 7th to make decisions and inform the applicants. Apparently there is a significantly large pool of applicants in this one-hospital town. Im thankful for those praying on my behalf..this has been a stressful wait!

Good call...i had my notebook but never thought to ask for their business card! I was thinking of calling HR to see if they could tell me who was on the panel. Do you think thats a good idea?

Email follow-up letter after interview
Ok, I have a similar question. I had a panel interview today with 6 floor managers...i cant even remember half of their names or what unit they came from. Should I send a thank you to HR? Or how do I go about doing this? Thanks!

New Graduate Offered Position in OR w/Concerns
I am awaiting an interview from a hospital for an OR/Pre-Op position (the hospital called to say they would call to schedule an interview..odd, but i was just happy to hear from them!). I am a new grad (Nov 2011), and I hadnt really considered OR nursing just because I did not spend much time there as a student. Reading these posts really increases my confidence that this position could be a great fit! I love the schedule, the people seem great and the job in general is just cool. I would be proud to say I am an OR nurse! Say a prayer for my interview. :) One more thought...any tips for the interview process/OR tips in general? Thanks Ya'll!

HURST REVIEW--Is it worth it?
TILDOR, The review was 99% content review then you have the option to take their mock nclex exam (called the Q-review) up to six times before your exam. I only took it 3 times (in case i failed), because you only have the option to take it 6 times over the course of two years. The questions were hard i thought (i scored in the 60's and 70's), but they definitely prepared me for the nclex. I really liked her rationales.

HURST REVIEW--Is it worth it?
I was hesitant to pay the initial cost for the online review (video review), but after having passed NCLEX with 76 questions I feel like it was 100% worth the investment. Furthermore, I had been out of school for nearly four months and only studied here and there so it really helped me prepare for the job after having been out of the loop for so long. I LOVED the content, the way she taught was unlike anything I had ever had in nursing school...it was so clear and easy to understand. I'll tell everyone I know who is going to take NCLEX to take the HURST review. so worth it!

Transferring CA license to Montana
I need help! I just took my boards in CA and found out I passed (HALLELUJAH!). I had already applied to the CA BRN when we found out that my hubby is on orders to transfer to montana. We are excited for the move but I am overwhelmed by the paperwork and the crappy CA BRN. It is almost impossible to get any help from them. Fortunately, the MT brn is much easier to work with and they were the ones who told me the cost and paperwork that is necessary for CA to fill out for my license transfer. The problem is i dont know where to find that paperwork. Anybody know? I have looked all over on the CA BRN website and havent found anything. How long should I anticipate this process taking? Thanks for your help!!!!!
