i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm sure it's a wonderful feeling when all of the stuff that's so overwhelming starts making sense and works! I can't wait to be in your shoes. Hopefully, I will be in Spring 2007.
I am so happy. :) Yesterday, I put in a straight cath for a male pt (first time). He was doing ok, I was doing ok, and my instructor said that it was ok. :) I just have to tell everyone. :)Katie

That's awesome Katie!
I can't wait to do the real thing. I checked off on indwelling cath yesterday and I really want to do the real thing. Our teacher failed 4 people automatically for contamination...I was SO nervous but I did well :)
Only 3 more weeks and we are out for summer!!!!!!!
Does NL or THR have the clinical rotations in the summer that brief you on your skills? There is one at EC but it's about $200 and lasts only 6 days....I am really thinking about taking it but the price is a little steep....
Hi,
No, I am done with pre-reqs. I am now doing support classes and will only need 1 more support class when I apply this summer. How far along are you?
Hey amyindallas - I'm trying to get in for Spring 07 as well :) Are you still taking pre-reqs?Katie - Congrats! I bet that was nerve-wracking the first time :)
How easy is it to find a job during the summer in a hospital?

I will finish up my pre-reqs at the end of this semester. When I apply at the end of the summer, I will only need Micro since I am taking Life Span and A&P II this summer. I plan to take Micro in the fall just to get it out of the way while I wait :)
Is your first choice NL or EC? My first choice is NL. I hate trying to find parking at EC!

There are a lot of things annoying about EC! I started there this Spring and I really wish I would have chosen NL. I didn't choose it because of the drive (I live about 4 blocks from EC) but now I am really thinking the drive would be worth it! It seems like such a happier environment over there.
Good luck to you both JaxiaKiley and Amyindallas! Please keep us posted and let me know if you need any help with anything.

Hi Jaxia,
First I wanted to say - you have a beautiful name. I have applied at several places but I haven't heard anything back. I can't say I have been really aggressive with it either! lol. I really would like to work in the hospital this summer but I feel like it's too late - I don't know though. Did you want to work in the hospital this summer before you entered nursing school? I have a friend at Baylor and they pay for his edcuation which I think it really neat. He just applied as a PCT and then they wound up paying for him to go to EC. I wish I would have found something like that. I wish you the best of luck in looking for a job. Whereabouts are you located? Which hospital were you looking at working?

Our unit is hot.
I mean the corridors and the pt rooms. I have been at the cardiac cath lab twice and that was very cold.
