i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
Something will open up for me when it's suppose to, if it's suppose to.
Exactly!!! This I have learned. I wouldn't have been in the ICU at any of the other externships I applied for which is where I wanted to be which is obviously where God wanted me to be also! I just had to be knocked down a few times before getting there :trout:
that's alot of positions, maybe they do it in the Fall also, I will keep my eyes open.Hey Fun,
where did you apply?
Any luck yet?
Again, I am not sure on those numbers. This is just what was passed along to me so there may have been more or less...that's a very rough estimate
I will definitely let you know the inside scoop on Externships when I get my foot in there! Is there a particular floor you're more interested in?
:balloons: Congratulations Brie!!!!!! :balloons:I was shocked too at how many people they invited to that thing! I was getting very nervous because they kept saying that there were X amount of people applying in the ICU and there were only 2 positions for December graduates and 2 positions for May graduates. ER, ICU, and Women's Services were just swarming with people interviewing! Go us!!!!

YAY! We'll be in orientation together! Are you in Group 1?
I'm in Group 3... I think all departments had a limited amount of positions and they were all based upon graduation dates. The Lord was definitely watching over us that day! I have never been so nervous on an interview before in my life!! I actually like to interview because I LOVE to talk to people... but I was just trying my best not to stutter..lol!

Me too! My mind went blank a few times and then the lady was just like, "Thank you" and shook my hand without even looking at me only after I had been sitting there for max 3-4 minutes....so I thought it was all over at that point. I was truly shocked when they offered it to me at the "offer" table. I think the pay is the best I had heard of any Externs....$15/hr and $1 extra at nights and weekends...not too shabby! I wonder what they pay their RNs!

I couldn't believe it either... I didn't even know I was at the "offer" table!!! The pay is the highest I've heard of for externs! I'm just thankful that I don't have to be a PCT anymore... I'm a bonafide expert in taking vital signs and blood sugars!!
