i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
I am one step closer to 3rd semester. I passed my final check off.Katie
Congratulations Katie!!!!!!
Which 2 did you pull? I pulled a narcotic mixed with an antiemetic and foley. I was praying not to pull the narcotic because it's such a pain (hehe no pun intended) but it turned out to be not so bad!
All there's left to focus on is test 4 and the final oh yeah and then the HESI.
Katie,
Maybe this is old news but did you recently have a B-day?
More about this documentation class....would this be recommended for someone like my self that hasn't started yet or would it be better to wait until I have at least been to the hospital and see if I even need help in this area? Yesterday I signed up for the Keys to Success class in Jan. right before the semester starts.

Thanks Guys. I had to do a urethral and insulin. It was very easy but I lost some points on documentation. Maybe I should take the extra documentation class at ECC. I heard that there was somebody in 4th semester who failed due to her poor documenatation skill.Katie

Yes, I had my B-day 2 weeks ago. :nuke:
I took the care plan class at ECC during my first semester and it was a great workshop class. I am thinking about taking the documentation class, too.
These one day cont. ed. classes are offered several times during the semesters. So you can wait and see if you need to take any classes.

Did I say happy birthday to you? I think I did. If not...hope it was a great one! :)
As far as the classes go...I didn't take any of them, and I am making the same/better/worse than those that did take one/both. I guess some people really benefit from it, others don't.
I'm sure the keys to success probably wouldn't hurt any...except your pocket book. HAHAHA
Do what you feel is best for yourself, Amy. If the only regret would be a loss of a little bit of money & a wasted Saturday, then at least you can say you tried. :)
Amy,
I took the Keys to Success Class, you will learn something about how to answer those critical thinking questions , which was good and you will also learn how to format an APA style paper, which I never had to do before. So it did help me. I also took the math course, which I personally thought I probably could have done without, the only good thing was , I had the test out of the way before everyone else. Also , the care plan class was very helpfull to me, because no one will really explain to you , how to write those. I guess they expect you to figure that out on your own :chuckle . Also I recommend you get yourself a good care plan book. Many recommend "Nursing Diagnosis Handbook" by Ackley, any addition is fine, I bought mine on Amazon for $ 5.00.
I have not taken the documentation class, and I am not sure if I will , but as said , they will offer these classes continuously.
Oh by the way, when you do decide to take the care plan class, make sure it is one for 1st. semester. I was not aware that she has them geared towards specific semesters. When I was in there it was actually for 2nd. but she still taught us allot.
Thank you so much mysterious_one for your input! So far I have just signed up for the Keys to Success class, which was only $39.00. I didn't think that was too bad.
I actually just recently bought the "Nursing Diagnosis Handbook" by Ackley (latest edition I think). I also have "Nursing Diagnosis Reference Manual" and another nursing care plans book along with 4-5 different NCLEX style review books or CD's. I hope all these help!
Good luck to you and thanks again!
