El Centro Spring 2015

Published

Hi all,

I am starting a tread for all the students that will be applying for spring 2015 ADN program at El Centro. Please join and give any info that you might have. I want to be successful as well as everyone else trying to apply.

Hi everyone! I was just accepted into the program on Tuesday... a spot opened up! I have taken a bunch of classes this semester thinking I would start in August but I went ahead and applied this last time around and since I was only 1 point off, I guess I wasn't that far down the waiting list. I am THRILLED!! But sad I had to miss the orientation. I saw the link to the fb page and joined. Really excited to meet all of you and get started.

Good luck to you all! About to take my EXIT HESI.

All I can say is GLAD TO BE DONE.

My advice to you would be get your foot in the door at a hospital (if you haven't already) between 3rd and 4th semester so you can concentrate on your grades prior to that. Those of us who did are getting jobs, those who didn't are having a harder time finding them.

Again, good luck!

I'm so happy for you. Good luck on becoming a Nurse! How many points do you have? You said you were only one point off. I guess it could be 26pts. Am I right? The reason why I'm asking is because I will be applying with just 26pts if I don't retake my Hesi. So I just wanted to know, just to re assure myself of being the lucky one that might be accepted into the program just like you. :-)

Thanks for the advice! Good luck on your EXIT HESI. :)

Is anyone on this trend doing your clinicals at the VA? The deadline to turn in your paperwork is on Dec 9. Do you guys know where do we turn in the paperwork at? Congrats NN Dodson welcome to the club Spring 2015. Hello everyone I am new to this forum. Congrats on your acceptance.

Sounds like you will be doing a lot! No worries though, I'm also on the same boat. I'm currently enrolled in Micro, history 1, HPRS 1204, HPRS 1202 and Sociology. Then, I will also take classes in May, June and July. I did take HESI and too be honest, I didn't think it was that hard like people made it seem. lol! Although, I do have 6 years of experiece as a Medical Assistant and i have learned a lot throughout the years. The funny thing on HESI is that I made a 96 on AnP, 92 on math and 80 on the english section lol! I guess becasue I was too busy concentrating on math and anp. lol! I do have another test coming up next month hoping to get a higher score.

I need to retake HESI A2 because I sucked at yhe 1st one. I'm also taking HPRS 1204 & 1202 & SCIT 1408 Fall 14. Good luck everyone.

Hi Ivilleguy .....I've been hoping that I might hear back from you in regards to your Selective Service issue you mentioned previously. I hope things have worked out for you in your favor. We're getting closer every day to the beginning of this crazy journey and I hope you and everyone else in this class is doing well and preparing yourselves physically, emotionally and psychologically for the grind that lies ahead.

Is this the bridge prog.? If so how long is it?..thnx

Hello All ! I googled upon this website and was so happy to find fellow classmates for Spring 2015 ! Congratulations ! I also was accepted. I look forward to the next 2 years with you all.

Hi Doc Reid. Sorry it took me so long to reply. The person who said I was out of the program was the dean. I picked the VA for clinical, and they require males to be enrolled with the SS in order to be hired. Since there are no spots available for other clinical settings, I must give up my spot in the program.

Luckily, I found a document sent by the Selective Service. It read I was exempt (I had a visa at the time, so I was not required to enroll). I took that letter immediately to EC and didn't give up my spot. The faculty at EC is letting me stay, but the VA will make the decision if the evidence I have is good or not to start the program in January.

Glad to hear that you didn't get kicked out for something like that. Don;t know how old you are or where you're from but if you were born before 1958 then you would be exempt. Also, the SS website even says that if you're older than 26 then you don't have to register. I was pretty much always in uniform, usually in the reserves, for over 30 years so I never was in a position to have to register. You mentioned you were on a visa...where are ya from...just curious.

For all the pre-nursing students applying for the ADN Fall 2015 Program be AWARE that the program requires everything paid upfront. Save $3,000!!! All Books must be bought and must be in hand the 1st day school starts. No Exceptions. The books cost 2,300 which is the biggest chunk of money you'll have to pay.

Please be aware of these things. I was not aware of the upfront costs. I thought I could cover schooling with loans and pell grants. I Was Wrong!

Yes you will eventually get your Pells and grants but you won't get those before the semester starts except of course book money.

I overheard people saying they may have to reapply due to monetary issues.

Just be prepared because I wasn't along with so many other students. I scavenged through all of these forums for help and never once did I come across this topic. So I thought I'd prepare the students who are searching these forums for help like I was. Good Luck on applying everybody! Time will pass sooner than you think. Deadline for ya'll is January 31st, 2015!
