El Centro/ Northlake Nursing Spring 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Hello all! I'm new here and have not seen a post for El Centro spring 2014. I was originally planning to apply for fall 2014, however I just heard that the point system and prerequisites have been revised! Now I will be able to apply for this spring! I don't know if I will get in, but its worth a shot! Anyone else applying for spring 2014?

I was wondering about the Varicella shot because I only had 1 dose. So I called Joan Becker for clarification before the deadline. She said the only 2 vaccines that you can apply without having is the Influenza and the third dose of Hep B.

Have any of you applied to any other programs? It's so frustrating that they all require different things and different entrance exams..... Trying to do them all can make a person crazy!

I got the first dose of varicella on aug 30.

Specializes in Neuro/EMU, Pediatrics, Med Surg.

Abenton111-I totally agree!!! Every school has a different entrance exam. I've taken the HESI, the teas v and soon the compass. It's frustrating and time consuming.

I also applied at weather ford ADN, and I'm considering trying for the lvn start in January. It's not my ideal choice but a fast way into a lvn to rn bridge. It's frustrating. Ill have 54 college credit hours after this semester, and am still trying to just get accepted somewhere.

Abenton111 & Aking21 you have to have both varicella doses or a titer test showing you had varicella before. That's the reason my app was disqualified because I noticed I didn't have the proper documentation showing I had chicken pox so I decided to get one dose of varicella. They sent me a letter saying I have to have both doses to apply or the titer test done.

Yea, that's what Joan Becker explained to me. Luckily I called and got clarity ahead of time, therefore I was able to get the second dose of varicella before the app deadline.

I had the titer done at Presbyterian Allen, made a copy of the titer results and included that!

I took the teas v also! Along with the hesi I've also taken the psb for Collin , time consuming and expensive! Just went Wednesday to take the critical thinking portion of the hesi for Brookhaven where I don't think I will get in but Know I won't get in if I don't apply and try.

Abenton111- That’s great that you’ve taken all those tests! You’re very persistent so you’re bound to get in somewhere. Just have to stay positive and do all that you can. Midwestern State University just got a new accelerated BSN program designed for students who already have a bachelors degree in another field of study. So I’m preparing to apply for their program. Its only 15 months!

Does anybody have an idea about how many people typically apply for the Spring semesters?

i think its around 300

Good luck guys! I was in y'all's shoes last semester :) I just started the program 3 weeks ago and I'm loving it!
