El Centro College Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys,

i wanted to make a forum for all of the 2019 applicants. I wanted to know what everybody was going to apply with and if they knew anything about the school still being in academic probation? Also does anybody know if the school accepts the Hep A and Hep B shows that are 1 month apart?

Hi. Does anyone have the list of required vaccinations?

I am applying for Spring 2019. I am taking the HESI for the first time tomorrow morning. I only have 15 points prior to taking the HESI. I am hoping to do well enough that it will boost my total points, but if not I am prepared to reapply after completing additional courses. I feel confident on all portions except for the A&P. I have only used the study book from amazon and study apps.

What are the support courses? The additional "non-nursing specific" courses required that are not the prerequisites?

Also, do you all know if Hep A is required? Can I just do the first immunization now? Good luck to all!

Hi there! The support courses are listed with nursing class schedule found in the packet. I'm not sure about the immunizations.

I'm also applying to the El Centro ADN program but this time around I'm not going to get my hopes up just in case we get e-mailed another letter at the last minute that tells us the program is still on probation and won't be admitting any students for that semester.

Hi. The immunizations required are listed in the Castle Branch compliance tracker after you make the purchase.

Hello everyone!

I am also applying for the spring 2019 at el centro. I am appling for the LVN to RN. I have a total of 34 points I hope that will be enough to get in. I want to stay in the loop with everyone. I went to the information session last week and the acceptance letters/emails won't be out until Oct 25th or 26th if I recall right for the spring 2019 applicants not the 15th. They will be waiting on the first board of nursing meeting around that time to get the answer to if they can open the doors back up to accept applicants.

I hope us all the best!!

Good luck to you! I feel like 34 points is pretty competitive.

Did they happen to say what their pass rate was last semester? Do they think that they will be able to accept students?

Hey guys,

I spoke with North Lake's Campus and Mountain View and they pretty much said that El Centro's program is ending. I went to the Texas BON website, well i googled to see if it was true and I found a link for the Texas BON that had El Centro's current status. They are on "conditionally approved" and are unable to accept applicants while they are under this status.. I've asked around and everyone is giving me the run around about whether or not the program has really ended. Their pass rate for last year was 69% for NCLEX-RN... So i'm now going to apply for Brookhaven, Mt.View and Tarrant County and possibly North Central Texas instead. They all have a pass rate of 89% or better..

Thank you for being up front and straight forward about it. Better than the alternative IMO.

When I went there last week on 6-27-18 for the information session and Jessie the admission person and the dean over the nursing program also came in and answered questions it seems as if they are looking forward to being back open to start classes in Jan 2019... That is with hopeful thinking the dean said out of the class that graduated in spring of this year 18 majority of the ones that have taken the NCLEX have passed it she stated something about a 82% so I believe that is what they need to be back opened. The dean seemed as if they believe that they should be open for spring 19. That's coming from them at El Centro as of last week.

Above 80% is what they believe.

In your opinion, did the dean and Jesse from admissions seem like they were sugar coating the severity of the issue? Basically, were they trying to downplay the issues with the NCLEX pass rate and the fact that the program is having problems or were they upfront and honest?
