El Centro College Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys,

i wanted to make a forum for all of the 2019 applicants. I wanted to know what everybody was going to apply with and if they knew anything about the school still being in academic probation? Also does anybody know if the school accepts the Hep A and Hep B shows that are 1 month apart?

Jesse main focus far as the conversation was based on the admission stuff he really didn't answer our questions about the program he left that for Becky. So when she came in she seems pretty confident that it shouldn't be anything else holding them back. She said that El Centro should be first on the list with the BON conference meeting in late October and that's when they would get an answer on whether the doors can be open for us applicants to apply which they would already have everyone's apps and would then do the emails/mail of acceptance. She seemed as if she believes that they will be started back up in spring. She also made a statement that they were thinking about for those applicants that applied for fall 2018 to give them an option for a "fast track" type class to do what ever class that was originally 12wks I think in 8 weeks but it would be an option and they wouldn't have to accept it she said that is if the doors are open the end of oct and if the instructors agree to do the class.... I mean based on what I took in from her she seemed pretty confident she didn't seem as if she was about to be losing a job or anything she appeared pretty straight forward. I left from that session thinking and feeling I would have a good chance in getting in for the spring. Another good pointer may be that applicants may not apply because of what all have went on and may make for a smaller class that can get all the information and a better learning experience.

Will the campus be open on Sunday the 15th in order for us to turn in our application? I am taking the Hesi on the 13th, and it will take 24-48 hours to get my results or else I would have it turned in earlier.

You will have till that Monday to turn it in since the 15th is on a Sunday. That is my understanding on the date on a weekend.

Thank you for answering! I also just read it in the info packet. We will have until the 16th to turn in our applications.

Well, I'm not applying! Turns out that the guidelines set out by El Centro makes it to where Castlebranch will not accept my shot records from my high school. I went to get titers done and my MMR came back as not immune. (My doctor says that this is common???) I obviously don't have time to go get both doses of MMR, so I'm out. When I called and asked Becker if this would disqualify me all she said was "Yep. Sorry."

I am so beyond DONE with school. I can't imagine how many good student are being turned away because of the tedious and ridiculous set of requirements to get into this school. SO. DONE.

I sure hate to hear that and yes the process is tedious just to apply but don't give up! Castle Branch rejected my varicella records and I had to get a titer as well. Thankfully I was immune. If I were you, I would look into other programs as back up plans before their spring deadlines you still have time (Mountain View, Brookhaven, UTA etc.) I've learned not to put all my eggs in one basket. Good luck and I'm sure you will get into a program even if its not El Centro :)

Sorry about your situation with CastleBranch. I would 100% suggest looking into other nursing programs into the DCCCD. I put all my eggs in one basket last semester and I ended up disappointed when I didn't get into the program I wanted. This time around I'm applying to every possible nursing program I qualify for in DFW and the surrounding areas.

Could you possibly contact the health department in the area where you lived at the time to obtain your shot records? I'm not for sure but I think all health departments should have access to any health department to obtain the information. Or if you know what MD office you went to at that time.

So i failed the a&p portion of the hesi by 1 question (76.) Any advice on what to do now?

Log into your HESI Elsevier account to see the remediation section for A&P. Study for another month or so to re-take the HESI. In the mean time, check out other schools in the area to see if any accept the HESI with your current score and go from there. I've been in your exact position and I know how much it sucks, I had to take the HESI more than once until I made the necessary score.

Last day for Spring ADN application submission. The wait begins...

so they are accepting applocations? am unsure if I should just go ahead with brokhaven ..I dont apply until next year anyways .
