El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Published

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

My alternate letter doesn’t mention the number I’m in as an alternate , doses anyone know how many alternates they email ?

So , I guess I’m an alternate, kinda bummed but I still have hope, I’ll see you guys at orientation, hopefully someone decides to give up their seat .

Just keep thinking positive! There are a few that applied to multiple programs and will decline elco's offer. ?

Hi everyone I’m new to this forum .. congrats to everyone who got accepted .. and congrats to the alternates as well people always decline . Although I’m trying to stay positive I haven’t received anything from Elco , hoping I have better luck at Compton and harbor college .. but I was just wondering if anyone that got accepted would mind sharing how many points they had with the teas test ..I’m just curious and this whole process is driving me crazy .. also do they take your overall passing score on the teas or does each section have to be passing .. I bombed on one of the sections and I’m super worried now ..thanks in advance everyone

I believe they look more at the overall & science gpa. My co workers friend had 60 Points total , teas was 80% , I had more points & better teas score but her gpa was better than mine, she got accepted & I got alternate , so I think it’s different factors they look at besides points .

Sorry, I believe she had 65 points total

Hmm, idk how many points I had total. I have to check. I know when I saw the counselor she tallied me up to 60 points. But my license had just been inactivated, so I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to use that to get points (I can’t remember how many points that was). Point is I was between 50-55points without my TEAS. Idk how many points I got for TEAS. I think 15 (86%). So I’m assuming my total points were around 65 or 70. I’m thinking 70. I hope that made sense.

So, I got a email with uniform info, do alternates have to purchase uniform as well?

You probably have to be ready for when u get in. Imagine if someone opts out and then u get in but don’t have anything ready?
