El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

If you got into ecc , I’m sure you got into Compton, your teas score was pretty high. I hope today ain’t the last day for acceptance, they always save denials for last.

@ RNhopeful: Hell to the yes! ECC is only 5 miles away from me. Compton 15miles and Cypress 25 miles. The only other close one to me is Southwest (2 miles), but I missed their application period. So I’m definitely going w ECC. So funny, I just went to the orientation sessions of Southwest (yesterday) and Harbor (today). Southwest offers a concurrent enrollment w a university and you get done w ur bachelor’s degree one semester after the adn. I am really bummed I didn’t apply to that one.

@Sue_ema: I don’t think today is the last day. We have to respond by noon on Monday, so I’m sure some more will go out Monday when others deny the invite.

@Dub yes I also got accepted at SMC. I’m deciding between ECC and SMC. I’m going to orientation tmrw at Santa Monica and will decide from there

Good morning y’all!

Sooo, I’m at ECC turning in my acceptance paperwork and a student walked in ahead of me freaked out because apparently there’s an orientation today and since she didn’t receive an email yet, she assumed she wasn’t in. Minds you, my orientation isn’t until Friday next week, so emails have obviously been going out. So they did start sending out email last week like they said they would. It seems like they are sending them out in batches, so there is still hope for everyone. The lady told the student that rejection emails haven’t been sent out yet. Just thought I should let y’all know.

I’m freaking out even more now Lol , if I don’t get something by today most likely I either get rejected or ill gets someone’s seat. I’m going to be really disappointed if I don’t get in, Ive been an lvn for over 10 years, I have my AA , my teas score is pretty good, scores 96% on science section , the only thing is my overall gpa 2.9 & science 3.0, I hope they don’t only focus on points & see the overall big picture , but still waiting & hopefully I hear back today.

Good morning

When you turned in your packet they gave you a 2 page paper and said orientation will be Friday Nov. 15 but I called the nursing department earlier this week and they said they are behind schedule. That the orientation would be pushed back. I called again this morning and the lady said they sent out a couple emails yesterday evening and more would go out today. I'm nervous, good luck to all of us!

I just got my acceptance email this morning! I was so worried that I wasn't going to get in, realizing that the emails have been going out for over a week.

@Sue_ema: Sorry, I guess hearing that emails have been going out since last week doesn’t help. I think they do that to prevent more work for themselves. If people opt out, then that gives room for other people. I can only imagine all the other schools are sending out emails around the same time. I would give it until next week. I would have sneaked into the orientation that’s going on today, or at least checked to see if it was in the same room that my paperwork states, but it says it is in the afternoon, and I’ve been there since 9am. I wanted to see how many people were there. But I don’t know the actual info on it, I just heard a student mention it. I’m assuming they will also have an alternate list, just in case. I know the hygiene programs do that, so maybe nursing does too. Stay positive!

@VEM23: What paperwork are u talking about? U mean the packet we turned in for phase 2? It had an orientation appointment on it or did u get an email last week?

Did anyone get an email last week from ECC? I know a lot of people are following this post but it seems like only a few of us are actually commenting on it. Any feedback will help y’all.

@Dub when we first initially turned in our application into the Nursing program they handed me a 2 page info packet of the sequence of things to come. On there it said the orientation would be held Nov. 15th thats why the girl went in the office freaking out lol I was freaking out earlier this week and I called to find out if it was still this Friday (today) which they said no that they are behind schedule. I applied to the LVN-RN and I haven't gotten an email from Elco. ?
