El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Published

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

Hello everyone I am new to this thread and have been reading it. If i haven't heard anything from ECC for the spring 2020 then i should guess that i did not get in or invited to the TEAS right?

?

Testing for teas was nov 1, at this point we are waiting for acceptance post teas. If you didn’t receive invite email then you didn’t make the point cut off. I have a friend that never received an email from ecc but got invited to Compton . Sorry ?

Oh ok .... thank you for replying ?

i got invited to take the teas for LAHC, the teas is next week so hopefully I get accepted there. I have gotten rejected from most of them so i sure also from el camino, so my only hope is passing this TEAS and get accepted to LAHC... anyone know of any alternative schools to apply for ?

Hi Karen. Apply to Los Angeles Trade tech. They have a waiting list of about a year and a half, but you will definitely get in. You have to have a 2.5 overall and 2.5 in the sciences. You have to also take the TEAS and pass w 62%

Cypress also has a waitlist. I would do that as a back up and keep applying. That is what I did.

Hey Dub,

Thank you will definitely do that.... I was also looking into west coast university and AUHS ..... but haven't seen great reviews from any of them and they are so expensive!!

Almost 100K! Yeah, way too expensive considering you can do it for under 10K.

I went to all the orientation sessions about two months ago for all the nursing schools around me up to 30 miles. I was very upset to find out I could have applied to nursing school at trade tech (10 miles away from me) years ago. They don’t have a recency rule and you are for sure accepted as long as you qualify/have what I told you earlier. It is a first come, first serve. They take in applications continuously, so do it asap. Go to an orientation session and then to the application appointment and then as soon as u take your TEAS, send results. Well at this point, you’ll probably be done with your TEAS before you go to an orientation session and application appointment. If you get it in by this Dec, your wait time starts next semester. If u send it after January, your wait time starts fall 2020 semester.

@Karen galvez hi Karen. You can also apply to SMC. I did for spring 2020 and got accepted. There is no waitlist, and admissions is based on a point system like ECC. Their testing is not the TEAS, but they do a different one called the NLN PAX. It might be a far commute if you’re from the South Bay, but if that’s not a problem for you then you should definitely look into it.

Thank you Dub for the information, now that I know about LA trade tech i will definitely apply as soon as possible.

Congrat ! I’m also an lvn but don’t have hospital experience, so I couldn’t apply to the bridge program . Hoping they take my experience into consideration.

Congrats Dodger! Nice to be able to pick and choose. You said they “called” you? No email? I wonder if they called u because you hadn’t applied to that program??

yeah I have to stop by their office and fill out the upward mobility application. I was really surprised
