Edukan A&P2 summer session 3!!!

Published

I had been thinking about starting this thread all week and forgot about it. I guess the time has finally come! Class starts on Monday. I've been doing some of the ADAM labs to get ahead, but haven't done any of the "Beyond Adam" questions in the lab. I'm planning to start reading this weekend as well. Anybody remember what chapter A&P 1 left off with?

Come on everybody, let's make the next 6 weeks great, with lots of A's!!!

No problem. The webliography is where you find 3 websites that are related to that weeks chapter, then you write a brief summary for each. The tests aren't too bad, but you really have to fully understand the chapter because there are questions that are not so obvious. I know what you're saying, I think there's a lot of unnecessary work that is meant to keep us from having lives....I mean keep us busy.

I have looked into CCC online for next semester (A&PII) and it looks like cake in comparision to this, but it's twice as much money.

I am debating over taking the full term A&PII or the shorter term, but I don't know if the workload is any better!??

If you do the shorter classes with Simmons the work load isn't too bad - it's just the tests. So I guess it's a toss-up. I would personally have hated having to do all that busy work. I don't really see how the webliography really helps you. I mean if you want to look stuff up to help you understand the chapters on your own thats one thing, but to make you find them is kind of pointless - although you should be able to find tons of websites listed in the A&P discussion groups in the pre-nursing section of Allnurses!

Ok, so you have threaded disc., review questions?, labs, and tests? How long are the tests, and how long do you have to complete them? I've read about his tests being difficult, how do you know what to study? Did you have to type out the questions for the homework and labs? Thanks.

You don't really know what to study - you read it, study it, and hope for the best! :) At least that's what I do! 25 questions, 30 minutes on the test. You do not have to type out the questions on lab or homework, only answers.

We have

1. discussions-you write 1 orginal response and reply to 2 other students

2. labs-they are mostly just anatomy from ADAM, none of the 3D stuff or the Beyond AIA questions

3. Homework-the end of the chapter review questions, we only do the multiple choice questions, we don't write out answers or anything like that

4. Exams-they are 30 mins long and 25 multiple choice & true/false questions

As far as what to study, I haven't really figured out how he picks questions yet. I read the chapter once, do the homework and labs, then read the chapter again in detail. Right before I take the exams I read the end of chapter summary. We aren't aloud to use our book or any notes for the exams, but they wouldn't really be any use if you didn't understand the info anyways, plus there isn't time to look anything up. The labs and homework take a little while to complete, but they are really easy. The discussions are kind of in-depth, but I'm not sure they really help me to understand the chapter info. Mel

Wow, that's not too bad! I can't believe you don't have to do the essay questions at the end of the chapter, or type everything out. The testing concerns me though, because I am not a good test taker and I'd probably need more time. Thanks for letting me know. :)

Hey everyone...

How's the week going?? I took the unit 3 exam today...sorry, but I think they are getting harder. Either that or summer has got me outta study mode!! :lol2: I'll blame summer. Anywho...back to the labs. -Mel

I agree about the tests. Although, they were hard in A&P 1, I think the tests for A&P 2 are much more difficult. I study and study, but there is just so much information - I am unsure what to focus on. Dr. Simmons said to focus on the outlines - but that doesn't seem to help me too much. If anybody has any suggestions or advice - please share!!! Thanks!!!!

I wish I could tell you what to study. To me there was much more important things that should have been on the test for Unit 2 - more about blood typing that would have been relevant to us. When I read through the material I tend to focus on stuff like that and try to really understand it but he seems to put more obscure stuff on there. Maybe this time I should just find the most obscure stuff in the unit and concentrate on that! The outlines are useless to me except when I'm doing homework. I use them to find what I'm looking for in the homework.

Who wants to make some money - I'll pay you to take my test and get an A! :) Just kidding (well, sort of!) ;)

what about the tables at the end of the chapter.. are you guys spending any time on that? or is it just extra stuff? Im sweating this test too--eek

I agree w/ you, Lana. The stuff that I *think* is important isn't on the test, and the stuff that I just pass my eyes over is on there. I reread the end of chapter summaries 10 minutes before I log into the exam, seems to help me alittle. I wish we could use our notes, but then again, there would be no time for that anyways. I feel really rushed, maybe it's the fact that I have to look at the silly clock every 2 minutes to see how much time I have left :o . Good luck taking the exams!! Mel

I just took unit 3 exam and got a 42, which is exactly what I need to stay on track for an A! :monkeydance: Now, if I can just get 42 or better on the next 5 tests... what? we still have 5 tests to go??? :uhoh3:

by the way, I just love this little monkeydance guy! :monkeydance:

Wow! I'm glad I found this group! I, too, think the questions are getting soooo much harder! I just took chapter 3 and got a 56%, doesn't sound too good, does it :( I'm wondering how much bad test scores affect our overall average!!

Have you ever had a question in the lab book that you just can't find an answer to? If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. I don't think he really even looks over the answers, but I'm curious since I can't find it anywhere.

In lab 7.4, #5: What is the functin of the submandibular lymph node? I haven't read the text yet, but I did skim it and I've looked online & just can't find it, it's driving me crazy, lol.

I'm so glad I went ahead with the labs between A&P I & A&P II, the material & studying are taking up so much time that I can't imagine having to keep up with all the labwork as well.

I bought a physiology workbook that was listed under this course as needed, but I don't see where we will use it, did anyone else buy it??
